It’s been a fabulous 6 years with every cake teaching me a new technique, excited with each design of the next cake to come.

As most of you know 2018 brings a big change, my little herd of mini me’s and hubster and I are moving in to his family farmhouse and I shall be running the farm b&b. Because I have to give my all to what I do I knew that to start with the Cakes would suffer if I tried to run the two businesses side by side. So HBakesCakes is now officially paused until I can give it my all again, hopefully I won’t be away to long!

My last cake for 2017 was very fitting for this time of year, I’ve enjoyed making cakes for this family over the years, they’ve pushed my knowledge of decorating and inspired my creativity to bring them original cakes for each celebration
I was asked to make a cake for a 10 year old who was having a ice skating party. We went with an airbrushed design with ice blue on the board fading to ice rink white at the top of the cake. Iridescent white snowflakes, handmade no 10 and ice skate toppers with hot pink ribbon to warm up those winters shades. A pretty and grown up cake for a special young lady.

I do enjoy the originality of themes I’m provided when asked to make a cake. It helps fuel my passion for making these special cakes for special people.

This weeks cake reflects the birthday boys joy of football and a team he loves. Deep chocolate sponge infused with vanilla syrup layered between Oreo cookie buttercream covered in fondant decorated with Manchester City logo on the top with a crowd of hand painted adoring fans cheering on the silhouette soccer star aiming for the goal.

This week was certainly a busy one but a fun bake! This week I was asked to make the cake to celebrate the birthday of the drummer from the band “damn good reason” I was asked to make something around the drum kit and to make enough to feed all at the party so I came up with this design. The cake itself is rich dark chocolate sponge, infused with vanilla syrup layered between indulgent chocolate buttercream, covered in rolled fondant and decorated to look like one of the drums from the kit. This was topped off with a handmade drum kit topper and some drumsticks!
A challenging cake but very fun!

Mine craft was the theme this week, the birthday girl enjoys watching Amy Lee in mine craft. A staggered cake consisting on vanilla sponge and chocolate sponge infused with vanilla syrup layered between strawberry jam and covered in chocolate buttercream. Decorated to look like the land of of mine craft with handmade Amylee and no 8 topper

‼️‼️Important announcement ‼️‼️

Hello to you my lovely cake customers, I have some news to share with you!
As most of you know I'm a farmers wife, with three energetic little girls!
The time has come for us to move up to the family farm which in turn means to take on the family business,a bed & breakfast.
For this move to take place renovations will need to take place on the house, I will also need to invest a lot of my time into the move, the bed and breakfast and my family!

Please don't panic, I'm not quitting cakes! But I will be taking a break for 12-18 months to settle into our new home, get the b&b running smoothly and find my rhythm. Then I will know my routine and how much time I have for cakes

As you know I pride myself on a job well done and always strive to do my best in what ever I do, and to attempt to keep baking while moving etc would only mean I wouldn't be giving you my best!

I will honour any bookings that are already booked in, but from 11th December 2017, ovens at h bakes cakes will be off, for 12-18 months.

Thank you so much for your custom and kind comments over the years and look forward to baking for you all again in the future
