BE DEVASTATED IF THERE WAS NO MORE HIGHLAND GAMES!!
Emergency Open Meeting - Future of Glenurquhart Highland games
Our Community URGENTLY needs to fill a number of key roles in the Glenurquhart Highland Games team if the Games are to survive past this year. These roles include, but are not limited to:
Chair
Secretary/Event Co-ordinator
Web Page Administrator
For these roles we are looking for people who can chair meetings, have good organisation and admin skills, good attention to detail and good local connections .
Games day marshals are also required to help on the field and for the Glen Challenge & Hill Race Routes.
Unless you in the Community come forward to take over these roles by mid August then the Games will not happen in 2024 and perhaps never again.
No one wants the Games to disappear, so if you feel you want to help continue the Games and are interested in finding out about what is involved with a view to taking on a role, please come along to the Community Emergency meeting on Monday 10th July at 7pm in Glenurquhart Public Hall.
The current team will be there to explain how the Games Committee works, the key roles that need to be filled by the Community and the handover process.
WE ARE NOT KIDDING!!! Some of the Committee have over 37 years service under their belt and this is not sustainable. This community needs the next generation to get involved NOW to continue this old tradition before it is too late otherwise 2023 will be the last Glenurquhart Highland Games.
