This is our cat Cookie though she is not truly our cat as she is a fostered cat. However as any cat would tell you cats are not owned by anyone but themselves.
Our cat is seemingly quite amazed at how often we get it wrong. She believes that she understands everything we say, and we understand comparatively little of what she says.
On the subject of letting her out at any time of day. We only let her out when we see fit. Then when we do let her out we only let her out we only of the wrong door.
When we ask her why do you want to go out of that door what is wrong with this door? The look comes ( and a lot of Cookies language is in looks) why isn't it obvious?
To admit it isn't obvious to Cookie is to admit I'm stupid and the look tells me so.
If our tone of voice conveys anything to Cookie it is that we are wrong. To us it conveys exasperation.
The thought that we have better things to do than walk the extra 6 metres and back would never occur to Cookie. Empathy is not a big thing in Cookies book. Even if She had one.
This morning I let her out of the wrong door. Less than three minutes later she came back in again so I could have the benefit of letting her out of the other door.
Yesterday I let her out of the door she requested. It was cold and wet and she came back in again. Then went to the other door only to find that the weather was the same out that door as it was the first. If looks could kill.
