This morning, PCSO Nugent and PCSO Charles visited the lovely ladies who attend the MECA warm hub on Drayton Avenue.
After speaking with staff inside the charity shop about what's been happening on the estate, and a general catch-up, they headed into the warm hub to chat with the local residents enjoying a hot drink. ☕

The pair left some information regarding Hate Crime and how to receive support in the hub, for current and future service users to be aware of.
The warm hub is open to everyone, every Friday morning from 10am.

Yesterday morning, PCSO Nugent popped in to the coffee morning at St Francis and had a catch-up with local residents.
The coffee morning runs every Thursday between 10:00 and 11:30 and is a great way to speak to other members of the community, and have a hot drink as the colder months roll in. ☕

Later in the day, she was joined by the neighbourhood officer, and community protection officers from Derby City Council, representatives from Nottingham Community Housing Association, and our local councillors for a walk-about on the new estate. The group started on Belmont close and walked round onto Battersea Park Way to talk to local residents after recent reports on antisocial behaviour on the play park; we understand that there are some concerns regarding nuisance teenagers and how they are using the park late into the evenings. 👮🏼

This Morning, PCSO Nugent and PCSO Charles visited the children at Rydale Nursery to show them the Police van, and answer their questions!👮🏼

They then visited the volunteers and service users at MECA warm hub on Drayton Avenue where they all had a catch-up about what's being happening on the estate. 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

Then this afternoon, PCSO Nugent was joined by PC Webb at Mini Police at Markeaton Primary.
Again, we showed the children the Police car and all the gadgets that officers carry day-to-day. They asked some great questions, spoke about the age of criminal responsibility and all had a picture in the car. 🚓

This morning, PCSO Nugent attended the coffee morning at St Francis Church and was able to have a catch-up with some local residents. They spoke through different issues around the estate and the plans for the library once the building work has been completed.

Throughout the day, the team have been on-hand dealing with different incidents that have been reported to us; as the weekend draws in we'd like to remind you that the team will be around for any issues that may (but hopefully don't) arise!

Last week, the team paid a visit to the Youth Group at St Francis Church!

PCSO Nugent and PC Hill chatted with a number of the youths and showed them some of the kit that they carry on a daily basis, and showed them around the police car too.
Meanwhile, PCSO Leverington and PC Biggs from our Youth Engagement Team chatted inside the church with the kids about their perspective of the local area and what they'd like to see more of from the police.

It's always great to get to sit down with the young people from the area, as well as to chat to the amazing team at the church who give their time each week.

We have recently seen an increase in reports of vehicle interference and thefts from vehicles across the area. Whilst our enquiries are ongoing, we would like to offer some advice to residents about how to keep their vehicles and belongings safe.

- Ensure vehicle doors and windows are always locked and secure, even if it is only being left for a short period.
- Do not leave any valuables, such as wallets or handbags, on display in the vehicle.
- Park in a secure area if and when possible, even better if it is well lit and covered by CCTV.
- Ensure car keys are kept out of sight and away from windows and doors within your property.
- Consider security measures for your vehicle such as steering locks, tracking devices and alarms.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any information, CCTV footage, or have noticed anything suspicious in your local area.

The team have been out and about at the University of Derby today at their annual Freshers fair.

It was great to chat to both new and returning students, many who have just moved out for the first time, about keeping safe in the community and when enjoying nights out in the city!

At the end of August, PCSOs Nugent and Charles teamed up with PCSO Humphrey, from our City Centre Team, and PCSO Humpston, From our Normanton Team, to deliver safety advice to some of the local youths within our area. 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 👮🏼

We discussed Hate Crime, how to safely store, lock up and security mark their pushbikes, and other general safety advice whilst out in the City Centre. 🔐

The young people asked some great questions and added lots to the discussion, the team will be returning to see them soon to add free security markers to their bikes - If you're interested in also getting your bike marked up for free, keep an eye out on our social media pages to find out when the team will be in the local area. 🚲
