What started as a bit of a hobby has now become something much more as I am recommended by friends to their friends for just about any type of cake required. I have been baking & decorating cakes since my early 20' & am completely self taught......also picked up lots of little tips from my Mum who passed on her knowledge to me over the years. I have been given despite some cakes taking hours to get right.....being a perfectionist is somewhat of a downfall when I am sat making cake decorations till silly o'clock! Ok
There is a great saying that goes......Cheap cake isn't good & Good Cake isn't cheap! People don't realize the hours that go into baking & icing a basic cake, never mind a 4 tier wedding cake! So folks......take a moment to remember a cheap cake from the supermarket may look ok but certainly wont be made with the freshest ingredients & no preservatives! I make my cakes as close to the day required as possible & only ever use free range eggs. I have recently found a bit of a passion for painting furniture too.....always on the look out for a bargain that may look tatty but can be transformed into a beautiful piece with Annie Sloan paint & a bit of work ;)
