I’m sat here feeling very emotional processing these last few weeks and having to make the decision to close our shop.
We are so touched by all of your messages, and if I am being completely honest, I didn’t know you all cared so much!
We had our ups and downs in the business but thinking back on all of the memories has brought me to floods of tears.
It has not just been a service, it was our lives.
It was about the people we met in that shop.
And we will miss you all dearly.

Dear customers,

We regret to inform you that our shop in Crickhowell will close for the time being as of 1st January 2025.

As a small business, we have found external pressures too much to bear. These include:
- Local supermarkets opening
- Increased energy bills
- Increased ingredients costs
- Government changes to national insurance
- Lack of footfall, especially in tourist seasons
- Inadequate parking for the town

We would like to thank all of our customers for your support over the years. We really appreciate it!

We apologise sincerely for having to take this measure. And we do genuinely feel sad about it 💔

We will still be selling our breads & cakes at Abergavenny Market for now so we hope to see a few of your faces there!

We hope & pray that we can find a way forward in these difficult times!

We are looking for a full time confectioner!

Working hours will be between 6am & 2pm, Monday - Saturday, working 5 days a week, with availability for overtime.

Salary will be dependent on experience.

Confectioner Job Description:

Confectioner duties include producing, baking and decorating cakes and liaising with staff on the production demands.

Confectioner responsibilities:

• Producing and baking cakes, savouries and meat products
• Decorating cakes in a creative manner
• Using equipment provided correctly and reporting on any faults
• Helping with the display of products
• Liaising with other departments on the production load and ideas
• Checking stock levels and making production plans (lists of cakes to be made) and preparations required
• Maintaining a clean working environment
• Putting away stock, rotating appropriately and labelling

Confectioner requirements:

• A solid attention to detail of the appearance of stock and cleanliness of kitchen
• Excellent artistic and creative abilities
• Strong organisational skills
• Enthusiasm and the ability to work in a team
• Great time keeping

We are looking for a Saturday bakery assistant!

Working hours will be 8.30am - 5pm every Saturday, with availability for overtime during the week.

Bakery Assistant Job Description:

Bakery Assistant duties include selling baked goods to customers and taking control of the daily clean up procedures at the bakery.

Bakery Assistant responsibilities:

• Working on the counter
• Serving customers, to create a welcoming and positive experience
• Maintaining a clean working environment
• Preparing food (sandwiches, fillings etc) and hot drinks
• Taking orders in the shop or via telephone
• Filling up stock throughout the day, such as baked rolls, cakes, crisps and drinks
• Cash handling, taking transactions and refilling change drawers
• Managing customer complaints and reporting back to bakers

Bakery Assistant requirements:

• Excellent customer service skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Enthusiasm and the ability to work in a team
• Great time keeping
• A solid attention to detail of the appearance of stock and cleanliness of shop
