Reminder that the 50th Anniversary Cheese and Wine Evening is tomorrow at school from 6pm till 8pm - adults only. Anyone connected with the school currently or in the past is welcome to come along. Look forward to seeing you there to share memories and catch up with other people you know from the Berkeley community!

Please remember to let the school know if you wish to attend the 'Memory Sharing Cheese and Wine Evening' on Thursday 23rd May from 6pm to 8pm.

It is only three weeks away and we need to make sure we know numbers so that we can cater for this event.

The next event will be a cheese and wine evening to ensure that those people who could not attend the coffee afternoon during the day have the opportunity to come along and share their memories.

The time for the summer fair has also be confirmed and will be 11am till 3pm on Saturday 22nd June. We look forward to seeing you at these events.

Many thanks to everyone who attended the coffee afternoon on Friday. Thanks to Mr Birchenough and the school choir for entertaining our guests and to FOBs for supporting the event. It was great to meet people who have been involved with The Berkeley in the last 50 years. I know many visitors were incredibly impressed with the Year 6 children who gave tours of the school - thank you.

Reminder that our next coffee afternoon to celebrate our 50th year is taking place at The Berkeley on Friday from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. Please come along to share your memories of being a parent, pupil or member of staff at the school.

Since the start of our 50th Year celebrations we have been asked about ways past members of staff, pupils and parents can support the work of The Berkeley. We have therefore set up a justgiving page to raise money for a 50th Year Anniversary garden if you would like to donate towards it:

We are looking to create an anniversary garden in the school grounds for children to access all year round and for the community to help support and benefit from. The aim of the garden is for the children and members of the community to come together to create a garden where plants and vegetables are grown and maintained. It will also be a designated quiet area for children to access where they can read quietly, work as a whole class or have time for reflection on their own or with support. Currently we have no outside space like this for the children to use and we believe developing a space such as this will help support and improve the children’s wellbeing and engage our young people by providing new opportunities for educational and recreational reasons. As an additional benefit we want the local community to be involved in helping make this project happen and supporting its continuation as well as providing a 50 year celebration event that will bring social benefits to Crewe.

Date for the diary! This year’s anniversary summer fair will be open to all the local community, past pupils, parents and teachers as well as current students and families! More details to follow in the next few months!

Really pleased to see that the celebrations for our 50th year has been printed in this weeks Crewe and Nantwich Chronicle. Please can you remember to contact the school by phone (01270 845726) or email ([email protected]) if you wish to attend either of the coffee afternoons on Tuesday 5th February and Friday 29th March so that we are aware of numbers for these events. It would be great to get as many people coming along as possible. Thank you to our Friends of Berkeley School PTA who will be providing refreshments for these events.

The school's 50 year celebrations will continue throughout the year including two coffee afternoons for past pupils, parents and staff to bring and share memories. Please see poster for details.

On Friday we began our 50 Years Celebrations by holding a special assembly with some past members of staff, including Mr White and Mrs Spencer who were at the school when it opened. They were joined by Mr Williams' widow to blow out the candles on the birthday cake and share some of their memories of the school with the children. The children then had a special birthday lunch.
