Thank you to the Crawley Observer for taking the time to chat with me about the story behind Ridley’s!

It takes a lot of work and plenty of early mornings and late nights along the way, so it was really lovely to have the chance to talk about my journey as a small business owner. From starting Ridley’s back in 2019 to being named Bakery of the Year 2026/27 in the London & South East England Prestige Awards, it’s amazing to look back and see how far the business has come. 🧁

A Crawley baker who launched his business from his parents’ converted garage, has spoken of his pride after winning a regional award.

This cake was worth photographing and not just because it had a chocolate camera on top! 📸

Coffee and walnut is such a classic combination and definitely one of those flavours that works just as well for a celebration cake as it does with a cup of tea!

I’m delighted to have recently started supplying a new wholesale client, Something Wiccan Ltd!

Saranne has been dreaming of bringing coffee, cake and crystals together for a long time, so it’s really exciting to see that vision becoming a reality. ✨

A little bit of sunshine in cake form!

This was a lemon curd cake finished with soft buttercream and a cascade of pink piped flowers. I really love putting together bakes where the decoration is all about the buttercream flowers. They give a simple cake such a pretty finish without taking away from the cake itself. 🌸

I’m incredibly pleased to share that Ridley’s has been named Bakery of the Year 2026/27 in the London & South East England Prestige Awards!

It’s a huge achievement for my small business and something I’m very proud of. There’s been a lot of work behind the scenes to get Ridley’s to where it is today, so to have that recognised with an award like this is pretty special.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Ridley’s along the way, whether you’ve ordered a cake, picked up a pastry, come along to a baking class, recommended me to someone or simply followed what I’m up to.
