My top tips for cake decorating:

- Buttercream consistency is key. Whippy unsalted/salted butter works a dream. 1:1 ratio buttercream = icing sugar.

- Work with chilled/frozen sponges. Working with warm sponges is a mess and a nightmare! Chill for 12/24 hours to get a more stiffer base.

- Crumb coat doesn’t have to be perfect. Whack a base layer on. Set in the fridge for 20-30mins.

- Purchase a metal turntable. Makes it so much easy to turn and adjust the boards.

- Hot scraper is a MUST for final coat. Boil your kettle. Drench the scraper in hot water. Scrap the cake. Bosh.

As you can see I like anything that’s quick and easy🤣I’m normally in a rush so these tips are a saviour when it comes to decorating!
