Hello, I know it’s been a long time since our last update from the bakery.
For many months there have been lots of options being explored in the background. We hugely appreciate the support from Alistair at Scotmas for storing the bakery’s equipment whilst this has taken place and giving us the opportunity to fully explore all alternatives.
Unfortunately with the circumstances around Access to Work and how significant their delays were (and continue to be), we have ultimately taken the decision to close The Frangipane Bakery not only as a production premises, but also as a company.
With help from South of Scotland Enterprise and Borders Community Action, we have been able to arrange for the bakery equipment to be redistributed to other charities and social enterprises in the Borders so that the legacy of the bakery and the funding which we secured to purchase our equipment can continue to benefit the Borders community. Everything from our ovens to our tea towels have found new homes between Let's Eat Better CIC delivering cooking courses across the borders to a kitchen upgrade for A Heart for Duns.

Although the bakery has closed, its mission continues. Rachel is now leading on a project to pilot a Neurodivergent Local Action Group (ND LAG) in the Scottish Borders. It aims to put neurodivergent voices at the heart of funding and decision making for the local neurodivergent community.
