Big Bank Holiday weekend coming up. Lots of sunshine. Hard to believe when today is a bit meh!

We're on Keswick Market as usual on Saturday, which should be a lot of fun. The Bakery is open on Bank Holiday Monday from 8am to 2pm.

Have fun in the sun.

We make bagels on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Boiling them before baking gives them a natural chewiness and they're brilliant for sandwiches. We have three flavours: plain, poppy seed and sesame seed.

We have Margots back in the bakery today. It's a sweet cardamom bun with either a lemon and cardamom or chocolate creme.

Definitely worth trying as a lovely Saturday treat.

Fifteen years ago, we agreed upon a logo for our new business designed by Gemma of Geo and Co . It's been with us ever since: on our crockery in the cafe, on promotion literature, on our website and, latterly, on our coffee bags. It wasn't what we thought we wanted but as soon as Gemma came up with the idea we said, yep. That's it.

Of course, when we opened the bakery, we needed a new logo and Gemma came up with one that was similar but different.

Strong branding is important, even in a relatively small business. To this day, we're so grateful and happy that we were able to find a creative partner who was able to come up with the goods. Thanks Gemma!

BTW our 15th anniversary is on 1st September. Where has the time gone????

Our Black Bread is inspired by the kinds of breads you get in Eastern Europe, where every village, town, province and country has its own variety. We use 30% rye flour in it, alongside cumin seeds and caraway seeds. We add a little treacle to it, some malt and a tiny bit of cocoa to help get that dark colour. Overall, it's a well balanced and tasty loaf.

It's really taken off on Keswick Market where we regularly sell out. It's normally available on Saturdays in the bakery.

Definitely a favourite in the Walsh household.

Once tried, never forgotten.

If anyone wants to hear Andy talking all things to do with bread, then get your tickets for this Cockermouth LIVE fundraiser on Sunday 7th June between 7 and 9pm at the Kirkgate Arts Centre. Along with Stephen from The Moon and Sixpence and Buster from Jennings Brewery, the whole evening will be dedicated to talking about food and drink in Cockermouth. There'll be a Q&A session too.

Should be a lot of fun.
