A big 8-inch chocolate cake for the gorgeous birthday girl, Ivy 💕

I absolutely loved creating this adorable little mermaid theme, although I’ll be honest… it definitely put my fondant skills to the test! 😂🧜‍♀️🌊 From the little shells and sea creatures to the mermaid tails and under-the-sea details, there was a lot going on with this one.

I’ve been a little quiet lately, but I’m still here, just very much in the background juggling the school holidays, childcare and work. 💗

I’ve got a few orders to fulfil this week, so those will always take priority, but I’m also going to try and keep myself busy with a little baking where I can. I’m not making any promises or plans just yet though — I’m going to see how I feel and take things day by day. If I do anything extra this week, it’ll just be whatever I’ve got the time and headspace for. 🧁

A lot of my regular customers will have met Poppy over the years. She was always there to greet you at the door and say hello, and she was very much part of the Life’s Better With Cake household. 🐾💕

Sadly, we lost our beautiful Poppy on Monday and we are absolutely heartbroken. 💔

So I’m trying to keep myself busy, because I think I need that right now, but I also know I need to be kind to myself and not take on too much.

So for now, it’s just one day at a time. ❤️

This one was definitely a challenge! 😅

Decorating in 37°C heat is not for the faint-hearted 🥵 but we got there!

A Lord of the Rings themed cake with woodland-inspired buttercream, metallic detailing and, of course, the One Ring taking centre stage. 💍🌿

I’m really happy with how it turned out, and this one headed off to York yesterday. Fingers crossed it survived the journey in yesterday’s searing heat! 🤞🏻😂

✨ A little bit of Disney magic… but make it elegant. ✨🩷

I absolutely loved creating this one! Soft blush pinks, delicate florals, a touch of sparkle and the iconic Disney castle topper… the perfect mix of Disney magic with a grown-up, elegant twist. 🏰💕

Sometimes less really is more, and I think this design proves that beautifully. It’s pretty, feminine and just the right amount of Disney without being over the top.

To complete the look, there are matching cupcakes to go alongside it too, making the whole setup even more magical. 🧁🩷

I hope the birthday girl has the most amazing celebration! Thank you so much for trusting me to create something so special. 💖

🎬 Outdoor Cinema – Clipstone | 5th August 🧺🍓

With the outdoor cinema coming to Clipstone, I’ve had a little idea and wanted to see what you all think…

Would anybody be interested in affordable picnic boxes to collect on your way to the event?

As I’m literally just a street away from the venue, you could easily pop by, pick up your box and head straight to the cinema.

I’m thinking of offering both children’s and grown-up picnic boxes, filled with a selection of picnic favourites and a drink. Think homemade bakes, fruit, cheese twists, crisps, a juice carton for the little ones, and soft drinks for the grown-ups – all ready to enjoy on your picnic blanket.

I’d love to keep them affordable, so before I start planning them I’d love to know…

And that’s the last bake of the week… and this one really filled my heart. 💕

This cake was for the lovely Ivy-Mae, who’s in Ronnie’s class at school. Every time I saw her, she’d ask me, “Are you making my Gabby’s Dollhouse cake?” 🥹

Well… her birthday finally arrived, and so did her cake! I think everyone at school knew how excited she was for her Gabby’s Dollhouse birthday cake, and I honestly hope it made her day just that little bit more magical.

Happy 6th Birthday, Ivy-Mae! 🩷 I hope you’ve had the most amazing day and loved every minute of your special cake. 🎂✨
