A lot of time, love and effort goes into producing you the perfect Christmas turkey! 🦃🎄
They arrive with us at the beginning of August, and the daily routine of feeding, watering, bedding up, cleaning out, chatting too, health checking etc. begins! Our turkeys are Norfolk bronze & black turkeys - a heritage breed perfect for slower growth (our turkeys are over double the age of a supermarket turkey and medication free!).
When it comes to ‘T-Day’, there’s a whole host of friends, family & helpers roped in for plucking. The turkeys are all dry-plucked by hand - it’s time consuming but it really does give a superior finish that means you’ll get beautiful crispy skin. It’s also the most hygienic method, meaning that we can then hang the turkeys in our dry-aging fridge which enhances the flavour. We dress and truss them all as close to delivering then to you as possible for maximum shelf life. Poppy’s mum, Pat, taught us a trussing technique that she learnt from her mum using the proper trussing needles (which every butcher has but not so many know how to use), and it’s nice to feel you’re keeping a traditional method alive.
ANYWAY. After all that, this pos is really to say that we are 75% sold on turkeys so far so please get your order in ASAP to make sure you’ll have the tastiest turkey roast to enjoy with the family on Christmas Day!
