💍🤎 WHAT A DAY! 🤎💍

A huge thank you to everyone who came to see me at the WOW Wedding Fair at Cheltenham Racecourse yesterday — what a fantastic day!

I got to meet and chat with so many lovely couples about their wedding plans, from brownie cakes and brownie-based cheesecakes to favours and full dessert tables. 🥰

You also did a VERY good job of clearing the table… 😂

Thank you to everyone who stopped for a chat, tried a sample, bought a treat or sent through an enquiry. It was lovely meeting you all. 🤍

If you enquired with me yesterday, I’ll be working through and responding to all of your enquiries tomorrow — today, I’ll mostly be found in the kitchen baking like mad because apparently I need to restock the entire table! 😂🍫

🛠️ A Little Website Maintenance! 🛠️

Just a quick heads-up that the Wicked Whisk Bakes website is temporarily unavailable today while it goes through an SSL migration.

It’s mostly a behind-the-scenes change that will make life much easier for me going forward — including no longer having to manually add a new SSL certificate every year! 🙌

The website should be accessible again later today, although I may then need a little time to tidy things up as the migration can sometimes have a habit of moving layouts and other bits around. 👀😂

So if you try to visit today and can’t get on, don’t panic — I haven’t disappeared! 🍫

I’ll let you know as soon as everything is back up, running and looking as it should. 🤎

💍🍰 A Weekend of Wedding Tastings! 🍫✨

Last weekend was all about helping some of my lovely couples make one of the very important decisions for their wedding day… what are we eating?! 😍

And I love how perfectly these two tasting sessions show that there really is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to your wedding cake and desserts.

One couple tucked into a selection from my Standard Brownie & Blondie range alongside the Spring Seasonal flavours, plus three different cheesecake flavours. The fun part is trying the cheesecakes alongside the different brownies and deciding which combinations work together to create their perfect brownie-based cheesecake for the big day. 🍫 + 🍰 = 🤎

My other couple went in a completely different direction, choosing six blondie flavours alongside three different sponge cake flavours to sample. 🤍

Wedding tastings are your chance to try, compare, mix and match and, most importantly, make sure you both get a say in exactly what you want for your day. You might discover a combination you hadn’t even considered before!

Whether you eventually choose a brownie stack, brownie-based cheesecake, sponge cake, dessert table… or a combination of them, there are no rules here. Your wedding desserts should be something you genuinely can’t wait to eat! 💍✨

And if making that decision involves eating your way through rather a lot of brownies, cheesecake and cake first… there are definitely worse wedding-planning jobs 😂

🍰 Katie’s been busy in the Wicked Whisk kitchen!

I’ve provided plenty of cake and bake options for Ava’s Café this week, so their counter is well and truly stocked! 😍

The cake counter has had a little autumn switch-up this week… and there are some VERY good choices waiting for you! 😍

🍌 Biscoff Banana Bread – we’re giving our usual Banoffee Bread a week off and swapping it for banana bread with a Biscoff twist!
🌈 Smarties Cookies – chunky, chocolatey and packed with colourful Smarties
🍫 Milk Chocolate Chip Muffins – soft, fluffy and loaded with milk chocolate chips
🍐 Seasonal Pear Loaf Cake – a cosy seasonal bake perfect with a coffee

🌡️🎂 37°C… and a 3ft buttercream cake! 🎂🌡️

If there’s one thing the UK heatwave seems determined to do, it’s test me whenever I have a complex buttercream cake to make! 😂

Last Thursday, A&L celebrated their wedding at The Old Gore Barn in Cirencester, and with temperatures reaching a rather ridiculous 37°C, this was definitely a cake that put my buttercream skills to the test!

But a heatwave wasn’t going to defeat me. 💪🏻🎂 The cake was delivered as planned — a 3ft-long white sponge cake, covered in white buttercream and finished entirely with buttercream decorations. 🤍

The design featured a shell border running along the sides and base, with a beautiful rosette design across the top and rosettes on each corner. Simple in colour, but with plenty of piping detail!

And because one flavour simply wasn’t enough, A&L chose three different flavours — one for each foot of the cake:
🍰 1ft of Victoria sponge
🍋 1ft of lemon
🍫 1ft of chocolate

But the most special part was how they chose to incorporate the cake into their day. Rather than a traditional cake cutting ceremony, candles were placed all the way along the length of the cake, with the bride at one end and the groom at the other. They each blew out their candles, working towards each other until they met in the middle. 🕯️❤️

Such a fun and personal alternative to the traditional cake cutting — and one I absolutely loved being part of!

Congratulations A&L! 🥂🤍 Thank you for trusting me with such a unique part of your wedding day — and for giving me a challenge that 37°C definitely wasn’t going to win! 😂

🏃‍♂️🎂 A birthday cake for ‘Bear’! 🎂🚴‍♂️

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of making this 7” tall Victoria sponge for Bear, as he’s known to his friends! 💚

With four layers of Victoria sponge and a love of all things sport, we kept the cake design simple but packed with personality. The black acrylic sports figurines were the perfect finishing touch, featuring some of Bear’s favourite sporting activities — from running to cycling. 🏃‍♂️🚴‍♂️⭐

And I absolutely love the story behind this order… Bear’s wife found me simply by walking past my signage at the front door! 🥰 It’s always such a lovely reminder that those little signs really do work!

✨ A dessert table that had a little bit of everything… ✨

Wednesday saw me back at the beautiful Kingscote Barn for Jem & Dan’s wedding, creating a dessert spread that had something for everyone.

Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple chose an Eton Mess-inspired cheesecake as their cake-cutting centrepiece, topped with fresh strawberries, meringues and mint. 🍓🤍

Alongside it sat a selection of desserts for guests to enjoy:
🤎 A towering display of homemade tiramisu in stackable coupe glasses
🍋 Mini lemon cheesecake pots
✨ Mini Biscoff cheesecake pots
🍫 A selection of my signature brownies
🌱 Gluten free and vegan options, individually prepared for named guests so everyone could enjoy dessert without compromise.

One of my favourite parts of creating wedding dessert tables is seeing each couple’s personality reflected in the selection. Whether it’s a traditional cake, a cheesecake centrepiece, a dessert tower or a full dessert spread, every table is completely bespoke.
