Please rescue some ex battery hens from LuckyHens Rescue Wigan , they have 18 months of hell before they're killed & deserve a happy retirement.
Don't be duped by 'free range' they never see daylight til the day they're in the truck to the abattoir... it just means they're not caged but still crammed in a building of up to 32,000 with bright lights for 18 hours to make them lay more and no enrichment.

These beautiful boys are 6 weeks old today! They are SO lucky to be alive!!! Most hatching project chicks are gassed to death after the nursery/school gets bored (unless someone stops them going back "to the farm"). ALL boys born to the egg industry are killed at birth. If you want eggs please consider rescuing ex-batts who get sent to slaughter after 72 weeks of slavery. They make amazing pets!!! I've got 6 ex batts and fostering 4 baby boys. I'm a foster mum! These 4 little beauties were the lucky ones from a nursery hatching 'project'. Animals are not projects. These are baby roosters. If they'd have been born into the egg industry they'd have been thrown live, on the day they were born, into a chick grinder. Hatching projects pretend they go back to 'the farm'. There is no magical place full of abandoned roosters & hens that schools, nursing homes and nurseries hatch. They get gassed to death around 10 days old. Living Eggs LIE!!!! Please, if you have children, speak to the school or nursery and let them know what ACTUALLY happens. If you want to teach children about these lovely creatures please consider adopting some ex battery hens. These little boys are the reason why I've stopped using eggs. If anyone is interested in rehoming a baby roo from me in a couple of months please let me know... ☮️💚🐔🐓

Soooo... The reason I've stopped making cakes using eggs... For every egg laying hen their 'useless' male sibling is thrown live into a chick grinder as soon as they're born. This beautiful boy is one of the very few lucky ones not to be turned into gravy granules. He was rescued by a friend of mine & is staying for his annual summer holiday at mine.

So, my only little egg laying hen was found at 9 o'clock at night, wandering the streets of Liverpool! 😱 Thankfully, I was asked if I could look after her & I'm chuffed no-one's claimed her (despite posting on loads of sites). Egg laying hens are killed at a year & a half cos they get reproductive issues/cancer from the intensity of the egg industry. Male chicks are thrown, live, into a grinder at birth (there's your gravy!!) Since rescuing ex batts I've discovered what a sadistic industry it is... I get my hens implanted so they won't lay & to give their little bodies a break & extend their lives, . I've stopped making cakes since getting my girls, I miss the creativity of baking but prefer the daftness these little nutcases bring! They make truly ace pets!!! 😊

I have stopped using eggs. This is why. This is free range farming in the UK. They never see daylight, never touched grass, never dustbathed in the year & a half before they're killed. So long as there's a (pretty inaccessible) dog flap sized doorway then this conforms to acceptable British standards! Once you are aware of the abuse you can't shut your eyes to it.
