It's that day again...
It's been 5 years now since Daddy BuBakes was injected with 270 million CAR-T cells 🤯.
It was part of a clinical trial, after over a year of intense chemo and radiotherapy for mantle cell lymphoma had failed miserably. (You can click on the photo below to find out more if you missed this on previous years)
The current 5 year prognosis for this rare, viciously aggressive cancer is 55%, and that (improving) stat is due to these newer therapies now being available.
Thanks for continuing to hang about Dad, I'm ever so glad that you're doing so...
To everyone else, light the good candle, tell the people you love that you love them, and remember life is too short for bad wine 🍷🍷

The most special cake I've EVER made...
On January 11th 2021, Daddy BuBakes was injected with 270 million CAR-T cells.
He had mantle cell lymphoma, and the (brutal) chemo he had received hadn't even touched the sides. Towards the end of 2020 he was accepted as a patent to undergo a clinical trial, and so began another loop of an even scarier rollercoaster.
💙
A super cool thing is that with CAR T cell therapy, when they give the transfusion it becomes the "rebirthday".
So, yesterday at exactly 3.20pm, I knocked on my dad's front door to surprise him and wish him a happy 1st birthday.
Yup, Daddy BuBakes is a total badass, who decided to stick around for a little bit longer.
It's not been plain sailing, and I am SO proud of how he continues to deal with everything that comes up.
💙
On top of the cake is the text he sent me to let me know the infusion had taken place, taking pride of place among edible images of T Cells.
Happy 1st birthday Dad!
