Cake My Day Cumbria

Unfortunately I have made the difficult decision to close Cake My Day. I have loved what I’ve built on my own but with the cost increases seen to ingredients/toppers coupled with potential clients not wanting to pay for the true cost of a cake it’s just not sustainable as a business.

I’ve done so much to try and keep things going, having lessons, running competitions etc. but ultimately if people don’t want to pay the true cost then I won’t make the cake. As an example I’ve had someone ask for a designed cake where various toppers alone cost £30 but the client wanted to pay no more than £60 for the whole cake delivered, taking off ingredients, cake boards, boxes this would have barely left me anything to cover my time and with a new baby I won’t sacrifice my time with him for nothing. I’ve got some amazing regular customers but that alone isn’t enough to keep me open.

To anyone who has booked a cake and paid a deposit I’ve sent messages to arrange returns of those deposits. The page will be open until those deposits are returned and then the pages will be closed down.

Thank you to everyone who has followed me and purchased bakes from me in the past. ❤️ 😢

Thank you so much to Sally Cooper Cake Artist for todays 1:1 lesson on texture and ganache, I’ve learnt so many new skills from the ganache Queen, I just need to practice more to make it perfect. I absolutely loved the whole lesson even though I was getting frustrated with myself 😂 Sally has the patience of a saint.

Sponge, fillings and ganache made by the wonderful Sally for the class, then constructed, coved and decorated by me with some help from Sally.

It didn’t take long for the scammer to start on my competition post 🤦🏼‍♀️🙄 I’ve blocked them but they’ll probably try again at some point! Please do not fall for anyone saying that you’ve won and do not follow the link or provide any personal details, I would never ask for any of that. My last order before maternity, cupcakes for my sons sports day at school who have team houses named after some of the Lake District mountains.

👶✨Little update✨👶

I will be taking some time to welcome a new addition to the family, with my last orders going out at the end of this month.

At the moment I plan to work in some orders at the back end of the year and fully back to it in 2024

✨ Forty and Fabulous ✨

Elegant 40th cake with vanilla sponge and jam filling, it went out for a BBQ get together yesterday and the rain held off 🙌🏻
