October’s been very busy for us, and amazingly we’ve stuck to summer production levels; but inevitably it has started to drop off now, and as such we’ve frozen some surplus stock. So: another Monday freezer sale it is. With our beautiful new Rocket Espresso UK Rocket Boxer & Ceado grinder turning out some coffees too ☕️ 10 - 12:30, Monday 19th 🥶

/// A bit of spoken word for World Mental Health Day. Contains some strong language. (Just about managed to memorise it in time - will probably do another video once these rhymes are lodged better in the brain).

Anyway: the vast and nuanced plethora of mental ailments really suck. They can ruin lives, needless to say. It’s so important to work hard to keep the mind balanced, healthy, free from anxiety, depression; the limiting effects of OCD - whatever it may be - the list goes on.

It’s equally important not to stigmatise these issues, and to reach out to others; to talk about what’s going on. When we fail to prioritise our inner life, or get caught in vicious circles, burnout and breakdown occur. This piece is about conveying something of the “rabbit in the headlights” sensation that befalls us when we reach breaking point.

There’s so much to say on this. But I think, for now, I’ll just leave it with the message at the end: “probably best to not bottle it up; probably best to just share.”

And if your mental health is good, don’t take it for granted (treasure it!), because - to paraphrase Rumi (or was it Hafez?) - ‘the jewelled inner life is all that matters’…)

// Tonight’s dinner. Wild Mushroom Pâtè & Pecorino Country Pizza. I picked Parasols, Horse Mushrooms & Field Mushrooms on the coast, cooked them down thoroughly to lose excess water, added onions and garlic, cooked down some more. Cooled. Added rosemary and thyme from the garden. In the magi-mix with some cream cheese. Blitzed until smooth. Jars in fridge. Spotted them whilst making margheritas for the boys. Dolloped on dough (no tomato), pecorino. Cooked hot. Kind of sausagey, rich; yum.
