Dear friends

Last month saw a massive decline in our custom, hopefully due to the hot weather, not something we have done.

However, this meant a massive decline in sales and an even bigger loss in monetary terms. If it wasn’t for our bathroom fund, we’d probably not be here as of this month.

Ok, we’re just another coffee shop, or are we…? There’s still a very small number of places in Cardiff that can happily boast that are gluten free. We’re in a minority of safe spaces that can proudly say we’re safe for LGBTQIA+ community. And we pride ourselves with both.

There are a couple of ways you can help. Firstly, please continue to support us. Even if it’s just purchasing a coffee, it’s a help!

Secondly, if you’ve not done so yet, please sign the petition to help the hospitality sector campaign to reduce VAT. It’ll take less than 30 seconds of your time.

To put it in to perspective, everything we buy in (with the exception of cleaning product and take away cups etc), comes with no VAT. Every penny I saved for the last quarter was spent on VAT (that was about £6000) and it wiped out my funds. When I was setting up the shop, my accountant told me “we’re just a glorified savings account for the government” and she wasn’t wrong. The campaign to reduce it helps us in times like this. Helps with keeping the high street alive, keeps jobs local. We’d love you to stand with us! It’s a few seconds of your time 😊
