Turtle Dove Cambridge

Turtle Dove Cambridge Supporting young women into work. Through Turtle Dove Cambridge, Your event can make a difference!

Turtle Dove Cambridge was created to fill a gap in youth support work. With one very specific aim, Kate Nation founded Turtle Dove to improve the future of young women who are or are at risk of becoming unemployed through not having the confidence or experience to seek employment. This mission was driven by Kate’s first-hand experience in the youth sector where she saw the effects of a system wher

e there are twice as many young women not currently searching for jobs compared to their male peers. She also wanted to create a safe, female-only space that offers these young women an opportunity to flourish away from the pressure of their male contemporaries, around whom research shows they often don’t perform to the best of their abilities. Having grown organically over the past few years, Kate has ambitious plans to drive this project forward – reaching more young women than before, offering them the opportunity to strengthen their self-confidence and work towards building successful futures. By providing them with opportunities in hospitality, working as part of a team and with a defined structure, these young women can gain invaluable life experience. Our team of young women help assist in small-scale events, working on and off site to help ensure the event runs smoothly and seamlessly. We combine our service by working in partnership with various local caterers, restaurants, other social enterprises and community groups as well as supplying our very own vintage china hire.

A huge thank you to Big Yellow Storage Cambridge for their continued support of Turtle Dove Cambridge.

We areBig Yellow Self Storage David, who always goes above and beyond to make everything run smoothly for us. From providing a safe place for our van to be stored, to generously allowing us to temporarily house our new kitchen unit on site, his support has made a real difference.

As a small organisation supporting young women into work through training, work experience and community opportunities, practical support like this helps us focus our resources where they matter most.

We have some exciting plans ahead, and this next chapter simply wouldn’t be possible without the kindness, flexibility and encouragement of people like David and the team at Big Yellow Storage.

Thank you for believing in what we do and helping us create more opportunities for young women across Cambridge.

Volunteers make our work possible here at Turtle Dove.

From supporting events and workshops to helping with admin, stock management and communications, volunteers enable us to reach and empower more young women across Cambridge. Their time, skills and encouragement directly impact confidence, opportunities and brighter futures.

This Volunteers Week, we're celebrating the incredible people (Volunteers, Advisors and Directors) who stand alongside us and strengthen our mission every single day.

Want to get involved and make a real difference in the lives of young women in Cambridge? Visit our website at buff.ly/QCKTquy and head to the 'Get Involved' section to join our amazing volunteer community.

We will be looking for new Directors soon 🙂

Today we stand for love, respect, and the right to be yourself 💛

On International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia, we celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and stand against discrimination in all its forms.

At Turtle Dove, we’re proud to be a space that is welcoming, values difference, and is supportive — always.

Everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and respected, today and every day.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re shining a light on something that sits at the heart of everything we do at Turtle Dove Cambridge CIC.

Wellbeing comes before education or employment.

Over the last 10 years, we’ve learnt that confidence, resilience and emotional safety are the foundation for stepping into learning, work and business.

That’s why we don’t just focus on CVs and experience.

We have a dedicated Young Women's Development Worker and a structured peer support programme, creating space for honest conversations, 1:1 support and real connection. Because when a young woman feels heard and supported, everything changes.

Mental health challenges, trauma, neurodiversity, anxiety, social pressure, addictive behaviours, low self-belief – these aren’t side notes. They are often the barriers standing in the way of opportunity.

This week, let’s remember that supporting mental health isn’t separate from supporting employment. It is the starting point.

At Turtle Dove Cambridge, we know how important mental health and wellbeing at work really is. Creating a supportive environment for our team means we can show up as our best selves — not only for each other, but for the young women we support every day.

The work we do is built on trust, compassion, and understanding, and that starts within our own team. We’re so grateful to work alongside people who genuinely support, uplift, and look out for one another through both the good days and the challenging ones. 💛

A little reminder that support in the workplace matters more than ever.

Sometimes the right opportunity appears at exactly the right time.

Stepping into something new can feel daunting, but growth often lives just outside our comfort zone. Being surrounded by encouraging, driven women who genuinely want to see you succeed makes all the difference.

This experience reminds us that it's never too late to pivot, learn new skills and move towards work that truly energises you. When you're supported, you stand taller. When you're encouraged, you think bigger.

Here's to brave decisions and the power of the right environment.

Thank you to Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority for the ability to make this happen and have Keeley join us. We are also so excited to say that she started a job in Comms and Marketing, having been integral to the TD social media team.
