Looking forward to this market on Saturday! As it will be our last in the U.K. before we close next week, the menu will be limited and our time together will be bittersweet. We hope to see many of your local familiar faces as we close the curtain on what has been an epic journey. So grateful to you all for the support and see you Saturday 🌹

The only answer to give when people ask “Why focus on bread?” 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

In Philly, bread isn’t just bread, it’s a sacred institution. The roll makes the hoagie. The toast makes the breakfast. The bagel determines if your morning starts happy or with immediate rage. You can have the finest meats, imported cheeses, and hand picked lettuce, but if that roll’s trash, you’re just eating sadness wrapped in disappointment.

We’ve got people who will fight over Amoroso’s vs. Sarcone’s like it’s the Schuylkill Civil War. Philly bread has more attitude than most people’s uncles. Without good bread, you don’t have a sandwich. You only have regret.

What a journey it’s been! With more emotion than I expected, I’m sharing that Victoria Rose Artisan Bakery will be closing as a UK business on April 30th.

This little bakery has been so much more than just a business to me—it’s been early mornings, tired hands, big dreams, and the the kindest community of support I could have ever hoped for. Every order, every kind word, every familiar face at the market has meant more than I can put into words.

As many of you know, I’ll be moving back to the United States this summer, and with that comes the difficult decision to close this chapter here. While it’s not easy to say goodbye, I’m incredibly grateful for everything this journey has given me—and for all of you who have supported it.

We still have a few weeks left, and I would absolutely love to see as many of you as possible before we close. The last Newmarket Market for us will be this Saturday, April 11th and our final market will be the Frederic Smart Food Fest in Papworth on Saturday April 25th. Online ordering still available all month until the 30th. Thank you for being part of this story. Truly.

This isn’t the end—just a new beginning as we look to reopen in Virginia when we get settled! 🌹

With so much love,
Victoria Rose Artisan Bakery

I am asked at least once every market day if I make all the baked goods myself. 😆 And every time they are shocked when I say yes, every item, still kneaded and shaped by hand. It’s a heavy lift for sure but when everything turns out the way I imagined, and new customers turn into repeat customers and repeat customers turn into friends, the effort to share a humble loaf of bread with people is more than worth it.

Though make no mistake, the “humble” sourdough loaf requires blood (fingers in the way when scoring), sweat (overproofed, underproofed, what’s the temperature in here??!!), and - in my early trials - many, many tears 😂🌹

Decided to bring Focaccia to the market Saturday and it was the first thing to fly off the table! A customer who used to own an Italian restaurant gave me some new flavor ideas to try so expect to see more Focaccia variety in the next few markets 🌹
