Hello all, it’s Vappu aka May Day, which means doughnuts! I’ll be baking these to order this Friday and Saturday 😊

The doughnuts are cardamom-spiced sugar ring doughnuts. I mention this every year, but these doughnuts (‘munkki’ in Finnish) are my guilty pleasure, I can only fry a small batch for our household as we have no self-control with them 🙈

Doughnut prices:
4 for £10
6 for £14
10 for £20

Cut-off times:
🔹 For Friday 2nd May orders, please get in touch by tomorrow evening. You can either collect the doughnuts in the afternoon (from Marleigh Park CB5 8LH) or I can deliver after 5pm for a small £2 delivery fee to nearby areas
🔹 For Saturday 3rd May orders, please get in touch by Friday afternoon. I’m aiming to deliver between 1-3pm on Saturday, again for a £2 fee (or collection will work too)

Hello everyone, I’m happy to announce that I’ll be baking this weekend!! I know it’s been ages, I never intended to take this long break from baking, but unfortunately last year has been incredibly hectic with moving house and starting a new job. As much I wanted to get back into baking, I just never found a way to incorporate it into my free weekends.

I’m still trying to find work-life balance, but hopefully this year I’ll able to start baking on a bimonthly basis at least. And please remember, do get in touch if you want buns for a special occasion. I'm always happy to do some ad hoc baking 👩🏼‍🍳

Right, let’s get down to business. This weekend I’ll be baking the traditional Jam & Cream Shrove Buns called ‘Laskiaispulla’. They have been super popular when I’ve baked them in the past, so these are not to be missed 😉

The cost per bun is £3.20 and I’ll be baking them on the following days:

🔹 Sunday 2nd March - Delivery or collection, aiming to deliver between 12-3pm. I’ll be charging a nominal £2 fee for the delivery within Cambridge

🔹Tuesday 4th March - Afternoon collection from CB5 8LH

Hello all! As promised, I’ll have a special treat for you this upcoming week: Finnish May Day Doughnuts called ‘munkki'. They will be available for collection on Wednesday, and for delivery on Saturday

The doughnuts are cardamom-spiced sugar ring doughnuts. They are one of my favourite treats, I can only fry a small batch for our household as we have no self-control with them 🙈

Doughnut prices:

6 for £14
10 for £20
15 for £28

I will also have a small batch of ‘sima’ to sell on Wednesday (on first come, first served basis). Sima is a refreshing Finnish May Day drink that tastes slightly lemony. It’s sweet and fruity, with a hint of fizziness!

Alternatively, if you’d like to have sima for next Saturday, please get in touch by tomorrow (28.04.) and I can prepare some for you 😊 Sima is made by fermentation, so I’ll need to allow up to 7 days for it to be ready

Sima prices:
0.5L for £4
1L for £7
2L for £13

Cut-off times:
🔹For Wednesday 1st May orders, please get in touch by Tuesday afternoon (collection is from CB5 8LH from 1pm onwards)
🔹For Saturday 4th May orders, please get in touch by Friday afternoon. The delivery rate is £2, and I’m aiming to deliver between 1-3pm on Saturday

I will also have Cinnamon Buns and Butter Eye Buns available, however instead of doing two different sizes, I’ll be only taking small bun orders this time (10 for £16 or 20 for £30). See you soon, bring on May and hopefully loads of sunshine ☀️

Hi everyone! This post is long due, I’m so sorry. Unfortunately I have had to make the decision to put my Friday bakings on halt as I’ve started a new full-time job that is office-based - so no more Friday buns I’m afraid 😕 Things happened really fast after applying for the job, and I wanted to be sure everything was going okay before updating you about my situation.

I will still be baking on occasional weekends and special occasions - in fact, my next baking days will be Wednesday 1st May and Saturday 4th May. I’ve specifically booked Wednesday off from work for baking as I don’t want you to miss the Finnish May Day doughnuts 😊 But will do another post later this week about the doughnuts! Much love, Tiia

Hi all! I have another seasonal treat for you this week: Jam & Cream Buns. These are known as Laskiaispulla i.e. Shrove Buns in Finland, and they are traditionally eaten, surprise surprise, on Shrove Sunday and Tuesday. And generally speaking just around this time of the year as once you start spotting them in the supermarkets and bakeries, they are just impossible to resist!

I’m selling the Jam & Cream Buns for £3 per bun and will be baking them on the following days:

🔸Sunday 11th, afternoon collection or DELIVERY (delivering around midday)
🔹Tuesday 13th, afternoon collection

Hello hello! So as I mentioned on my previous post, I’ll be finally back to baking this week, both Friday and Saturday. In addition to my usual cardamom buns, I have a special seasonal treat for you: Runeberg Tortes (Runebergin tortut). They are lovely little “cakes” named after Finland’s national poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg and they celebrate his birthday on 5th February. They are one of my favourites, they contain ground almonds, raspberry jam and a bit of rum (without tasting boozy though). I’ll be selling these for £3 each

Hi everyone!! I’ll be back to baking this week and I can also finally share the amazing news with you that I have moved house 😊 My new location is at Marleigh, northeast of Cambridge (CB5 area). The whole of autumn/beginning of winter has been incredibly stressful as we were waiting for months and months for our new home to be completed, but here we finally are! There’s still a fair bit to do, but we are slowly settling in. New oven is tested and it works like a charm, but first bun batch is yet to be baked 😉

Unfortunately my freelance work situation is extremely complicated at the moment, so I cannot promise you that I’ll be able to bake on a weekly basis. However, I’m hoping to get some clarity to that within the upcoming weeks so I can start properly planning my baking schedule around my other work...

Buuut, I’ll be definitely offering baked goods the next couple of weeks as this is the time of the year we have some special treats in Finland and I do not want you to miss them (you may remember Runeberg Tortes and Jam & Cream Buns from last year). My baking days this week will be both Friday and Saturday, will do another post soon with more details 😊
