Ok I've written and rewritten this post many times now, but I've decided shorter and not over-explained is the way to go.
Unfortunately Friday 1st May will be my last 'regular' bake as I will soon be clearing out of Unit 175 and stopping trading. There will be another couple of big loaf bakes for at least the following two Fridays, TBC depending on remaining flour stock.
There's a dozen different reasons, and probably a hundred different ideas of how it could have kept going. Mainly comes down to the moneys not balancing... High costs, too little income for me at home, the buffer has run out.
It's gutting because the orders are now busier than ever and there is momentum. I'm just unable to take it any further, unable to make or pay back the investments needed, and unable to justify 50-60 hour weeks on not enough to live on.
Please know that I have considered many options to keep baking for you all, from price rises, to part-time, to premises moving. I've even had a very generous offer from another local business/individual.
Unfortunately none of it sufficiently bridges the gap or makes up for the quiet months, and I'm just not in the personal situation anymore to carry the risk and subsidise it like I have been, with time nor with money.
Well, that didn't end up that short, but I'm so grateful to my lovely customers so I feel I owe some explanation. Not signing off just yet as I will post again about the final bakes etc. I'll save the sentimentality for then đ˘
For now, please do order as normal for this Friday (last chance for sweet buns) and then the final bakes will be listed on the website as well over the coming weeks. Thanks! X
