Hi guys! I had lots of messages about Rosie after posting last night so I thought I’d do an update as I’ve done none on here for months.
We have quite frankly had the hardest 6 months of our lives, poor Rosie was diagnosed with a grade 3 cancerous brain tumour and also suffered a stroke during surgery. She has undergone 30 rounds of radiotherapy alongside daily chemotherapy, and then onto monthly rounds of chemo.
She was diagnosed with a brain swelling (edema) in March after some symptoms progressed so went onto steroids, she then also had multiple infections and hospital stays.
After her second round of chemo she got shingles which led to a lengthy hospital stay, then developed Postherpetic neuralgia which is a painful nerve condition caused by shingles.
After we thought things were stabilising a little she had an eye test that revealed she now has hemianopia, which is partial blindness which impacts half of the visual field meaning she is now visually impaired which is caused by the tumour & swelling. And due to the swelling still being quite severe in her brain she has had to go back onto steroids & now onto a new targeted chemotherapy infusion to try stop blood cells supplying the tumour and reduce swelling.
I don’t think there’s any words to process all of that really, she’s been living in hell and no child should ever have to go through the things she’s been through already in just 6 months.
But besides all of that, I’m just grateful she’s here with us and she’s happy (other than steroid hunger and emotions)
