Had the honour of making a good friend’s birthday cake recently and it was entirely up to me to choose the flavours, how fun!
After much contemplation, I decided to go with the insta-famous strawberry watermelon cake inspired by Black Star Pastry in Australia. It’s so fresh, light, and fragrant. This cake consists of two almond dacquoise layers, rose scented cream and watermelon, then topped with strawberries and pistachios. Should’ve added dried rose petals but didn’t have any with me at the time.
No regrets at all with my choice and actually wishing I made a bigger one so we could’ve all ate a bigger slice at the party! Definitely one of my favourites now and can’t wait for a reason to make this again 🤤
