Five Gables Care Home is a small family run care home, with a home from home feel. Providing care for up to 13 elderly people, situated in West Moors.

We spent an afternoon painting our new Terracotta Pots for the courtyard plants we will be planting in gardening club next week, to give them a bit of colour and life 🥰✨️🖌🎨

Sunshine is coming, which means afternoon teas, cornettos, singalongs and sports, and lots of beautiful flowers 💐🌸🌻⚘️🏵🌼

Something EGGtremely EGGciting is coming to Five Gables 🥰🥚🐣🐤🐥

We are looking forward to welcoming some baby ducklings to our care home, having a 10 day experience of watching them hatch and caring for them in their first few days of life ✨️ this is going to be super special for the residents, and it might be fair to say the staff are excited too 😆

Happy Mother's Day to all our lovely ladies at Five Gables, today we are celebrating them as the wonderful Mothers they are, the amazing families they have raised, and their endless love and compassion ❤️

Thank you to the lovely Hannah for coming to sing to us on Monday for a joint belated birthday party 🎈 🎊 🥳 🎂🎉🎁

We loved all your renditions and especially the ABBA at the end 🕺🏾💃🏼👸🏽👩🏽‍🎤👨‍🎤

This was our first time having Hannah come to sing and we will definitely be inviting her back for more 🥰

Happy Valentine's day from Five Gables 💓

Today we enjoyed a pamper afternoon, and wrote some love letters 💌 one of our ladies had a special visitor and they enjoyed a glass of wine 🍷 together ❤️

Even our ducklings 🐥 ♥️ 🐥 are in love today!

We decorated for the occasion, making heart chains and red & white balloons, and sung along to the Greatest Love Songs on the radio 🎈

After a very blue January, having lost some of our lovely residents, we have been taking time to remember them and be present in the moment, hence the quiet on here 🩵

Going into February, we wanted to show you our newly renovated bedroom ~ we have named this The Wisteria Room 🩵 ...an empty bedroom tells the tale of a resident who has passed on and will be very missed by us all, but also awaits the tale of a new resident, who we look forward to meeting and helping them feel at home in Five Gables...

We are all about making memories and sharing special times together, from something as simple as reminiscing over knitted dollies, to laughing over Mickey Mouse, to sorting through handbags while trying on sun glasses, to cheering on a game of football. Every day we look for something to make us smile 🩵

What a week it's been 🥳🎄❣️

We have been super busy with our festivities, carrying our tradition of the 12 Days of Five Gables Christmas Countdown ✨️🤶🏼🎁

So far we have played Bingo accompanied with Baileys 🍾🎱, had a dancing disco with Rock A Tots - West Moors little children🤸🏽‍♀️🕺🏼💃🏽🤸, listened to a wonderful singing concert from the children at St. Mary's 🥳👄👩🏽‍🎤, made homemade gingerbread men with Kirsty from Hilltop Companions 🍪🧸, had a Fancy Dress competition 🧑🏼‍🎄🎭, made Christingles for our carol concert on Monday 🍊🕯🍡, and finished off the week with our Festive Foods from Around the World tasting session, including Stollen, Baklava, Panettone, Turkish Delight, Lebkuchen, Spiced Speculaas, Yule log, Mince pies and more 🧇🫔🥮🍮

Christmas has arrived at Five Gables 🎄✨️🎁❄️☃️💫🎅🏼🤶🏼

We ❤️ our festive lights projected onto the care home wall in the garden, alongside the light up candy canes 🍬🍭, the twinkle lights ✨️ we can see from inside the lounge, and all our cosy decorations, including Nelson the Nutcracker 💂🏽‍♂️, our newest recruit 🥰🤗

Our lovely residents have enjoyed helping to put up some of the decorations this week, and even got stuck in making some paper chains. We are really looking forward to all our plans this year, carrying on our new tradition as Paddington Care Ltd with the 12 Days of Christmas Countdown....keep your eyes peeled 👀

A busy couple of weeks recently at Five Gables. Remembrance Day, Mickey Mouse's birthday party, decorating gingerbread men, balloon sports, and most importantly, lots of smiles and laughter

Our indoor fireworks party was a hit

🥳✨️🎈🌆🌌🎆🎉🪄

Rather than sitting outside in the cold, wet and dark, we brought the show to us in the warmth of our cosy lounge - we had fibreoptic light wands, glow sticks, bubble lamps, star machine, a live stream of a fireworks show and finishing off with a 'Fireworks Shows Around The World' quiz!

One of our residents had been to a lot of the countries where the landmarks and fireworks were in the quiz, which prompted a lovely discussion about their travels of the world, and all the residents enjoyed the colourful lights and music 🎶 it was so much fun, our youngest guest to the party fell fast asleep 😴 and obviously we had to finish with tea and cakes 🎂
