Good morning.

Thank you for the visits yesterday and apologies for not being there, but all went smoothly with Harry at the helm, Daniel and Sam and if course, Angus looking after the noshery.

I took most of the day off after making the chocolate cake, to have a bit of R&R and went into a shopping spree for the noshery, for general DIY.

Popped in to the Duck & Drake for a bit of a bite to eat. Been meaning to go there for ages. Which by the way, was very nice.

They had 50% off. I guess as Mondays are always 🤫 quiet. .Worth the pop in and with two dogs we sat outside in the pods, again, warm and pleasant.

I really appreciate your comments yesterday. Ive come to the conclusion that the lady was quite ignorant of the struggles some disabled adults have and only reflected on her daughter who managed to get to university. I dont believe the whole of London has this total acceptance and all disabilities can get work easily and dont struggle with confidence and self worth. I believe maybe there is more money to support...perhaps, but hidden disability is not easy 🤔 to explain.

She got me where it hurts. A passion I am totally enthralled to. It had me questioning myself, as if i was interfering. One remark from Harry yesterday morning, made me cry, happy tears. I won't say what he said, but those words brought me back to reality and truly meant the world.

I thank all those lovely parents and customers for your words. Laura, thank you. Yes I remember!

If i have affected one life for the good, then I have made a difference. 😌 I need to keep telling myself that.

So as one customer said, back to bouncy, full of life Carole, with a zest for life. Lost a few years of worry 😟 by one ignorant woman who, perhaps, we are all fighting her attitude and those of a similar ilk, in more walks of life than mine in one way or another. Their own agenda.

Yes, I have an agenda too, and that is to support and help as many adults as possible. Rightly or wrongly, depending on your point of view, but I remain on my mission. 😛 😃 😊

So dug into my passion and disappointment I've just realised its June! Omg. Where did 6 months go! By the 21st, we will be half way through the year. When did that happen !

I need to slow it down a little !

Right, its time to take a coffee and get a few things ready.

Its warm outside. Not had the thrashing of rain. Just gentle caresses of rain, that's all. Last night the rain came and watered a lot of plants. They needed it! I planted a few lavender and finally the honeysuckle id been meaning to do. Unfortunately, my bottle brush did not survive. I love that plant, but they are not cheap, but need to have another go.

See ypu later and again, thank you. 🫠😊.

I thought i would share this with you. I know there are people from my old home city who live in the area, and some maybe fans of Manchester City football club. (It was the one I supported, I've grown up now. 😁)

An old school friend has arranged this auction, and as it is for cancer care. I thought I would promote this on this side of the country.

City collectibles via an auction and closed bids.

Happy to give you contact to the organiser if you are a serious bidder.

Good morning.

My mind is fairly blank this morning as I question myself and what I'm doing.

Firstly, Harry did amazingly well, as of course we know he does, holding together a very busy Saturday.

Our first gluten free pizza went out and I believe it tasted good. Fingers crossed, we can keep that gluten free on the menu.

Pizza, pretzels, burgers, light bites all were served along with a beautiful warm day and the veranda sharing its relaxing surroundings, flowers blooming and birds singing made for a great day.

I question myself for one reason. After a customer from London, said that learning disabled adults dont need help there, as they are included. Her daughter a higher functioning autistic, was at university and had no problems getting there. She thought I was disrespectful helping our adults, like we do. She was an educated lady, a teacher, who really must have blinkers on. Or is it me who has blinkers on?

I explained how there is still judgement for some, who we like to help on their journey through life and she felt that I was telling untruths about some of their experiences.

I must admit, I felt pretty deflated and now question if we really should exsist. Am I doing more harm than good?. Im not sure.

Should I make the authorities help them out?

Should I be campaigning to get some support. , They have failed so far, but if they get that support in London, why not here?

She didn't like my wording of 'they' either, when i was referring to our assistants! I really couldn't win with it, at all.

As a mum to an adult who struggles, I know it benefits her. Keeps her going, keeps her learning and boy does she have confidence now. Im pretty sure the tearoom did that.

So you see, I was at a crossroads all night.

This morning ,I remember all the amazing assistants we have had here over the years. The struggles they overcame, the personalities they exhume or perhaps expose would be a better word.

Then I think of this woman, her condescending attitude, because her experiences are different. I felt sorry for her husband, who looked sad and stayed with us, as if apologising for her. Oh she loved the food and she loved the service, but me....hahaha...she didn't like.

I guess that is why there is so much divide from those who are supported and those that aren't. Thank heavens for wonderful parents who have supported their children and fought for them to become the most beautiful people you could ever wish to meet.

I hope im helping even in a small way. For today I question my morals, im sure tomorrow, I will be more settled.

I must make a chocolate cake....that will make me feel better....lol 😋

See you later.

Ok. Many private messages in, we decided to run a car boot on our field on 15th August 2026. Plenty of time to turf out the unwanted and a way for you to earn some pennies for that project or bill you wanted to pay.

Items unsold must go home with you. Will put bins out. Please remember this is my home.

The ground is firm even if it rains in summer.

Gazebos welcome. One per pitch. No trailers unless you can move them off once unloaded.

Pitch fees will be £5.

Please no packing up and moving to early due to safety.

We will start at 12.30. stalls can arrive at 11.30 it will go on until we are all tired...lol

The tearoom will be open until 3pm for refreshments.

Good morning. A beautiful morning. Ive seen two weather forecasts this morning. One for 21 and one for 25......I will dress for both!

The veranda is calling me this morning, a coffee and a sit for a while is in order. The fans are keeping the tearoom cool and the cakes are screaming out....eat me!

We are able to add gluten free pizzas to our menu and we've also added pretzel hot dogs using genuine bratwurst sausage and garlic minced beef kofta in a pretzel roll.

How about a gala pie salad or even a Ploughman's. Maybe a prawn cocktail or prawn salad, burgers....of course...our quality steak burgers. With a whole host of toppings, even peanut butter if you would like. Cheese, black pudding, we even offer black pudding on a pizza, pineapple and maple, bacon, you name it, we will try our best. Its fun making the burgers!

This week has gone so quickly. Maybe because of the bank Holiday, but still too quick. My friends of 19 years, go home today. Its been nice to have some time to catch up. Put everything back to normal for a while. I miss the old days, when Mark was all involved too. They knew him how he was not how he is now. Sam will do her usual tears when they leave and quietly, so will I.

Life just goes way to fast, and although I have achieved my dream of a tearoom or in our new case, a noshery for a purpose, rather than making money, I still have lots to achieve around it and worry that the time may run out before I've done it all.!

Its only money stopping me, but saying that, in five years, look what we have achieved so far, with little money! We are just slower than perhaps a business should be, but we are still reaching our goals for our assistant adults and that's the reason why we exsist.

Ive not worked out my euphoria feelings yet, but I know my sadness from seeing my friends leave to go back to Essex. Im sure they will be back, and notice each time they come, how much our assistants progress.

So, I put out yesterday the chance of having a car book sale on the field. Im thinking a Saturday, perhaps 🤔 July, maybe middle to late August. Not early morning, as so much goes on with other boot sales. Perhaps from a 12 o'clock or even 1 o'clock. Anyone have any feelings on that? Checking for dates, I dont clash with anything local going on.

It should be fun..parking in the front car park and front house garden and car boot in the field. Time to get rid of things all in one area and all for a good cause. £5 per pitch. No traders please. Another words no selling new stock. All £5 pitch, goes towards the upgrading if the tearoom.

I will advertise it once I know of a date.

The tearoom will be open for teas, coffee and cold drinks and maybe the odd burger or two.

Back to today, we are here to welcome you to come and relax, get good food, cash or card welcome and a calm relaxing atmosphere with friendship and love all around.

See you later. 😆

It is with great pleasure, I can announce we can from today, do gluten free pizzas!

Just ask! Woohoo! Finally did it!

Anyone fancy doing a car boot for £5 per pitch. Gazebos welcome? No date as yet, but soon.

Good morning.

It was fabulous yesterday. In the morning, I had to take Sam to the dentist, it ended up as a surgical extraction, which was a bit traumatic for her, but she coped well. Came back to love and cuddles which healed all the trauma. She took the rest of the day off and by the evening was quite happy eating ice cream to take down the swelling after navigating and convincing someone of her need! Hmmm. I have a cunning daughter at times. 😄

The rest of the day, I watched customers enjoy the outside space. Carefully put together to feel relaxation, giving the feel of being anywhere in the world and resting. Nestled amongst the shadows of the trees, hidden from view, enjoyed by a plethora of flora.

A space i am proud of and I enjoy myself, at the end of the day. To think this was all done by upcycling and a little help with the fastenings and one huge achievement by Colin who created something out of nothing.

Just recently, I've been getting these exciting feelings. I can just be sitting, working, thinking, and planning and the next thing this excited feeling from nowhere appears. Ive no idea what that's about. Ive nothing exciting coming up, no holidays, (not had one for 19 years, campervan trips have all been about funerals and ashes ect), im robbing Peter to pay Paul, have a huge bucket of worries waiting to burst, and yet I keep getting this feeling. 🤔.

Perhaps my brain has learnt to turn worries into excitement. Its very confusing. Not a bad strategy, but its damm confusing. Nothing is coming up in the near future, even in the distance future. Blowed if I know.🤫.

Just waiting for the gluten free dough to arrive for the pizzas and we will soon be able to offer gluten free pizzas as well as our lovely 9 inch pizzas. Im guessing from tomorrow. Gluten free wraps available too.

The cake will be made this Sunday as baking gluten free takes time and.more preparation than any other type of food. All utensils have to be swapped over as well as bowls, surfaces and clothing if I've been handling non gluten free things. So bare with me. I make in batches these days, so will do a range on Sunday....I hope.

A range of salads were popular yesterday as well as light bites. A range of burgers, we can smash them if you like, not quite worked out what the hype is on smashed burgers. Just a burger squashed to fill a bigger bun! 😏, but its the rage and fills a headline.

I can also offer some pretzel rolls filled with garlic minced beef kebabs. Nice bit of yoghurt and mint sauce or even our own bbq sauce or whatever your choice of topping on the menu today too. (Reminds me, the adults need to make some more before they run out). I think they had fun testing their own sauces and finalising the receipe. It has certainly inspired them to experiment more with flavours and cooking. You should see what they suggest as a new idea! If they had their way, we would have 500 things on the menu!

Perhaps a simple.bowl of chips may tickle your taste buds for a slow dip lunch.

Time to make a coffee, sit outside for a few minutes and re-energise. Then back to the preparation.

Wishing you all a.lovely day, and hope you pop in sometime to see us.
