🌻 And just like that… it’s time to turn the page. 🌻
Tomorrow, Sunflower Bakery begins a brand new chapter, and tonight I get to look back on the adventure that brought us here — and feel incredibly proud.
There have been so many incredible highs over the years. Our brownies became award winning, our wedding cakes were featured in Vogue and Tatler magazines, and our cake school welcomed some of the most renowned tutors in the industry, with students travelling from across the world to learn with us.
Then the pandemic changed the world, and like so many small businesses, we had to adapt. We pivoted, created Sunflower Bakery cake kits, sprinkles and supplies, and sent hundreds of parcels of cake-making goodies off to kitchens all over the place. And over the last five years, we’ve baked and sold thousands upon thousands of brownies across Yorkshire.
But more than the awards, the magazines, the classes and the brownies, I’m proud of the little community we created around Sunflower. The people who walked through our doors, ordered a cake, came to a class, bought a box of brownies, followed along online, recommended us to a friend or simply cheered us on from the sidelines.
After so many years, it’s time for a new chapter — for Sunflower, and for my family.
I couldn’t be happier knowing that Sunflower is continuing on with Mary and Dan, who I know will nurture it, make it their own and take it wherever the next chapter leads. 🌻
And for me? It’s time to hang up my apron, make a little more space for my family and see what comes next.
Fifteen years is a very long time to pour your heart into something, and saying goodbye is definitely bittersweet. But mostly, tonight, I just feel proud.
Proud of what we built.
Proud of how far we came.
Proud of all the people who were part of it.
And incredibly grateful that I got to call this my job for so many years.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to every single person who has been part of the Sunflower story. You’ve made this adventure one I’ll never forget
