Vaughns Country Cafe Vaughns Country Cafe Tockholes Vaughns Country Cafe stands on the site of the former Hollinshead Mill which was demolished by Liverpool corporation in 1903/04.

The mill pond is still at the side of the building and is clearly visible. The visitor centre opened in October 1996 with the cafe opening on Boxing Day 2003. This is a perfect place to begin or end a walk in tranquil countryside. All our food is freshly prepared using local ingredients and local suppliers all being fairtrade, our pies are all home made using organic fillings. Ample free car parki

ng is available with disabled facilities. We have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, all in all something for everyone. The cafe hosts a unique bird watching facility through one way glass and regular visitors include greater spotted woodpeckers, nuthatches chaffinches and many more. Roddlesworth Information Centre is inside and holds leaflets on walks around the area as well as further afield. One of the favourite walks is to Darwen Tower taking in some fantastic views, this circular walk takes approx. 2 hours. Another shorter walk (about 1 hour) is the Roddlesworth Nature Trail which winds through trees following the river Roddlesworth. Roddlesworth woods also hosts a permanent orienteering course, showerproof maps can be purchased from the cafe for £1.00 or family maps which include easy, moderate, hard and very hard courses for £3.00.

Today we would like to say a huge thank you to Vaughn from Vaughn’s Country Café, for supporting the team for so many years. Since 2004, our collecting tins have been in your café and second hand books have been sold, raising over £5700 for the team. Due to the ironman competition the café will be closed on Sunday July 4 as the road closures make it impossible for the staff to get there.
