Good morning and happy June to you all.
How are you all coping in the heat? I love the sun but boy did I struggle with the crazy temperatures in the kitchen. I expect with the weather forecast this coming week, there’ll be a lot of moaning and I’m sure we’ll hear people saying well that’s our summer done and dusted!
A quick roundup in May.
Our little Noah turned 4 at the weekend and had a lovely dinosaur themed party (I still can’t believe he starts school in September!) Yes I did make his dinosaur cake and he said ‘Nana that is amazing’ I think it went down well!
We went to Brighton to surprise and celebrate my best friends birthday, had a fab weekend, lots of walking, we went in the rides in the pier, drinking and tapas. We had our yearly Eurovision do and pretended to be shocked at the results, expected to be somewhere undeservedly in the bottom few, but seriously 1 point? There were worse songs than ours!
We saw our nephews team Cockfosters play in the FA Vase at Wembley and although they lost on penalties, I was one proud Aunty when I saw him climb the Wembley stairs to collect his medal. It was a lovely day out and great to spend time with family and friends.
The week before we were sweltering in the heat at Wembley to watch Leeds in the semi finals of the FA cup. I’ll be honest, I’d rather be at Elland Road than Wembley Stadium.
So onto June, our Harry goes on residential to the Isle of Wight this week with school - I’ll definitely miss him but I know him and all the children on their residentials will have a brilliant time. A lovely way to unwind after the pressure of last months SATs.
It’s a busy month ahead, meeting up with friends for bbq’s, a hen party (looking forward to hi jingo bingo!) and hopefully some time to relax in the garden. It’s also our Danielle’s birthday, so as you mostly know, I won’t be around on the 16th for our quiet time.
For those of you celebrating a birthday this month, I wish you a very happy one!
It was a busy May for cakes and unusually there were lots of midweek cakes rather than just weekend ones. Thank you for all of your orders, I truly appreciate the trust you put in me.
June, wedding season cakes start and I’m looking forward to doing these as well as the other orders booked in. I do still have some availability for the end of June. So please message early if you’d like to book in.
I had a few voice messages last month asking if I had anything available to collect within half and hour, another asking for an hour to collect. Honestly, I don’t, I bake to order to avoid waste. So book in early to avoid being disappointed.
A little warning for those collecting cakes this time of year. Please don’t keep them in your car while you pop to the shop, meet your friend for lunch or leave overnight. It will collapse! If you’re going out, take it home first about it in the fridge. Once it leaves me, it’s your responsibility!
I’m pretty sure that’s enough from me, other than to say if you’re suffering from hayfever, I feel you! As I’m writing this my eyes are puffy and my nose is like Rudolph, we usually get a Kenalog jab, but there’s a shortage this year, so tablets and sprays it is!
Lots of love, stay safe in the sun!
