It took me seven months to train as a Celebrant with the Academy of Modern Celebrancy, and during that time I learnt so much more than simply how to write a ceremony.
I learnt how to structure a service, how to research, how to be creative and, most importantly, how to recognise whether I am the right celebrant for the person or family placing their trust in me.
Whether it’s a wedding, funeral or naming ceremony, that connection matters. Yes, this is my business, but it should never be just business. Getting it right for someone on one of the most important days of their life will always come first.
These days, with the multitude of AI tools, almost anyone can produce the words for a ceremony, but when you’ve been trained you can tell. However, a truly personal ceremony is about far more than words on a page. It’s about listening, understanding, asking the right questions, reading the room and bringing someone’s story to life in a way that feels completely theirs. Believe me, you can tell the difference.
Reviews like this are my reward. They tell me that I understood the person, understood the family and, most importantly, I was the right celebrant for them, and that no only comes from the training or experience, it comes from within.
When it comes to choosing someone to tell your story, or the story of someone you love, don’t settle for anything less than the right fit.
