The Jewellery Quarter has always been shaped by small things made with care, from historic ‘toys’ to jewellery, hallmarks, and the details we still celebrate today.
Not just simple toys, but small, beautifully made objects crafted by local hands.
Buckles. Buttons. S***f boxes. Seals. Watch chains. Trinkets.
Little pieces of metalwork made for everyday life, personal style and quiet luxury.
They were called “toys” because, at the time, the word was used for small decorative or useful objects. Things you could carry, wear, gift or collect. Small in size, but full of craft.
Birmingham became so closely associated with these small, finely made objects that it earned the nickname ‘the Toyshop of Europe’.
And here in the Jewellery Quarter, that history still matters.
That same spirit sits at the heart of Besa Coffee.
We’re not here just to serve coffee. We’re here to honour the place we’re part of, its craft, its stories, its warmth and its care.
Coffee with a hallmark of care, rooted in the Jewellery Quarter.
