Cloud-based-drama. This was our first Spring; we just mowed random paths in the garden and left the rest to grow wild. This year we mowed a race track. A bit more uniform, but same principle. Lots of long grass and wild flowers for the wildlife to enjoy. Then in the autumn we cut down the long grass and start all over again.

The previous curtains lent a certain alpine vibe to the gîtes before we replaced them with Mum’s beautiful linens (there’s a before photo in there somewhere). There’s a time and a place for red chequered hearts and chickens (the actual mountains for example) but this was not it. 100% linen for the win. Smells great too.

So it’s not quite plumbed in but we got a fire for the fire! First we scrubbed it. Then we high pressure washed it. Then we sand blasted it. Then we painted. Then we painted again. Then we bought some fake greenery and a log burning stove. Done. Well nearly…the chimney is being swept this Easter then we can get the fire on. (This is gîte ‘Le Puits’, the other one doesn’t have a chimney).

Just a casual visit from 35-odd players from the Saône-et-Loire tourism industry who came to have a nosy at our gîtes back in March. Bit of a language test that one. 🇫🇷
