First revealed at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show, it featured a 2.0-litre turbocharged, 16-valve engine developed by Cosworth. Hereβs the surprising bit: its engine was based around the cylinder block from Fordβs familiar Pinto engine!
With 0β60mph in around 6.5 seconds and a top speed close to 150mph, it brought serious performance to the road. The even rarer, more powerful RS500 followed in 1987, adding another chapter to the Cosworth story. π
