Yet again another publisher is quick to jump onto the story without consulting or checking at least the figures. So disrespectful.

A quick correction because it seems the familiar ‘publish first, check later’ approach has struck again.
This morning, the Bicester Advertiser published coverage of A Night for Martyn both in print and on social media without the facts, figures or photographs being checked or approved by the event organisers or family.
To be absolutely clear, A Night for Martyn did not raise £15,000. That figure relates solely to the auction sales on the night. We are still carefully counting every raffle ticket, donation and contribution before announcing the official final total.
Reporting the auction figure as the total raised overlooks the hundreds of people who bought and sold raffle tickets, donated prizes, gave their time and supported the event in countless other ways. We will not allow their contribution to be reduced to an inaccurate headline.
Photographs featuring members of Martyn’s family were also published without their knowledge or approval. The Facebook post was eventually removed after being live for around two hours, but unfortunately the story and photographs had already gone to print.
We are incredibly proud of what everyone achieved for A Night for Martyn, and the full, accurate total will be announced by us once every penny has been counted.
Until then, please disregard any figures reported elsewhere.
