I really hope Mr Burnham takes her up on her invitation !! 🙏

03/10/2026

🙏Please, Mr Burnham.... listen to us!!🙏

I really hope you will listen, because behind every small independent business are real people who are working incredibly hard just to survive.

Every small business owner I speak to is struggling with rising costs. Every day, another local business is closing its doors. Another familiar face disappears from our high streets. Another team loses their jobs.

And once those businesses are gone, they’re gone.

You can’t simply bring them back when things get better. The jobs, the livelihoods, the community spirit and the unique character they bring with them disappear too.

We have tried everything we can to absorb the rising costs. We’ve put it off for as long as we possibly can. But unfortunately, this weekend we have no choice but to increase our prices.

And honestly, it breaks my heart.

We know our customers are struggling too. We know that every extra pound matters. The last thing we want is to put more pressure on the people who support us.

But what choice do we have?

If we want to keep our doors open, keep our amazing team employed and continue being part of this community, we have to do what is necessary to survive.

This isn’t about making more money. It’s about staying alive.

Small independent businesses are not just numbers on a spreadsheet. We are people. We are employers. We are families. We are communities.

We want to keep going. We want to keep employing local people. We want to keep serving our customers. We want to be here for another 25 years!! 🙏

But we need help!!

Please don’t wait until there are empty shops everywhere to realise something needs to change.

Listen to the small businesses while there are still small businesses left to listen to. ❤️
