We're delighted to be working with Kilted Chef Craig at the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival again this year. Join us in the demonstration area at the Food and Drink Zone on Sunday afternoon at 1.15pm, when Craig will be making two recipes that he has created for the festival:

- Aberdeen Angus smash burgers with sunflower seed, oat and chilli flatbreads 🍔
- Honey, oat and chia seed summer berry chantilly scones 🍓

Across the weekend you'll also be able to enjoy demos from Garioch Community Kitchen, the Doric Kitchen, Buckie Lobster Company, Glenglassaugh, Loch Ness Honey Company and many more wonderful local producers.

We're really looking forward to being one of the local producers offering a wide variety of delicious food, drink and artisan products to sample and purchase.

Visit our stand to chat to our friendly team and pick up some of our products and recipe leaflets.

⚽🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Fascinating fact of the day: the Scotland badge on the Scotland national football team kit was designed by none other than Coinneach MacLeod aka the Hebridean Baker, when he worked for the SFA in 2010.

That's just one of the things we discovered in the first episode of 'This is Scotland', the new podcast from The Scots Magazine, hosted by Coinneach and historian, tour guide and broadcaster Ally Heather.

The pair have a brilliant rapport, and the launch episode covers everything from football and the artwork on Scottish banknotes to the Glasgow–Edinburgh rivalry, how many kilts a Scotsman really needs, and Coinneach's recommendation of Douglas Stuart's new novel, John of John.

New episodes will drop every Monday, with listener Q&A episodes on Thursdays.

🥣 50-40-30-20-10 and breakfast is done ⏰

These overnight oats pots are a simple, healthy grab-and-go breakfast that take seconds to prepare. Make one for tomorrow or prepare two or three at a time so you’ve got breakfast sorted for the next few days.

For this version we used:

🥛 50g natural yoghurt
🥣 40g Hamlyns Scottish Porridge Oats
❄️ 30g frozen raspberries
🫐 20g fresh blueberries
🎃 10g pumpkin seeds

The beauty of these pots is that you can mix and match your favourite fruits, seeds and nuts. Try different combinations using whatever you have at home.

Depending on how much juice is released by the frozen fruit overnight, the mixture can be quite thick in the morning. Simply add a splash of fruit juice, milk or water and give it a good stir.

Packed with wholegrain oats, fruit and natural goodness, it’s an easy way to enjoy a healthy filling breakfast and get your day off to a great start.

We were delighted to return to Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School in Dumbarton this week, for their annual Oattie Bake Off.

S2 pupils were challenged to create an oattie biscuit, flapjack bar or oatmeal scone. The pupils and teachers then chose one winner from each class to take part in the final.

There were some fantastic ideas including fajita spiced oats in a tortilla, Biscoff oatmeal scones, Oreo flapjacks, and a delicious summer berry flapjack with amazing homemade jam.

Congratulations to all the finalists and especially to the winners - Gagana who made a chocolate and raspberry flapjack and Abigail who made lemon oaty biscuits with lemon juice, essence, icing and yellow Jelly Tots 👏👏👏

Step into the Scottish Highlands and bring a taste of Outlander to your kitchen with these Outlander-inspired Oat Bannocks from Campbell's Bakery in Crieff.

Have you tried a bannock before? It's a simple traditional Scottish flatbread made with oats and cooked on a griddle. For centuries, bannocks have been a staple food across Scotland, loved for their wholesome ingredients and satisfying flavour.

They are delicious served warm with butter, honey or your favourite jam.
