We’re all set up at the Banbury Town Council food and drink festival in the market place.

We’ve got all of your favourite brownies, blondies & cookie pies and a new Rocky Road with jelly tots, marshmallows, Cadbury’s Boost bars and topped with jelly beans, but can you guess what the secret ingredient is?

We have a “good as new” stainless steel pie press for sale at the shop, only £375 to you!

It’s come to light that the Oxford Mail have written an article about our recent hygiene rating. We were waiting for it really…

We received a rating of 2, which is a huge disappointment to us, but not entirely a surprise. We have been in need of extraction in our kitchen since we started doing hot food but we haven’t been in a position to afford it. We’ve had several quotes for the work and it will cost us between £5,000 and £7,000. In addition to that we may also need to look at rewiring the kitchen to accommodate it, which is totally out of our reach financially.

This is not the reason we have decided to close, but it is why we are closing at the end of September. The business hasn’t properly broken even for some time. Our kitchen is not unclean and we are meticulous with record keeping and keeping food preparation safe.

I can only imagine the comments we’ll receive as a result of this article. I wanted to be transparent so people know exactly why we received the score we did. We will still be operating until the end of September as we have until then to have extraction fitted and we hope our lovely loyal customers will still come and see us until we close.

I’m going to stay off social media for a while now. I’m feeling quite fragile as it is and this certainly won’t help. I thought about mentioning this when we made our original announcement that we were closing, perhaps I should have but I was worried it might ruin us.

The shop is open from 9.30am and breakfasts are served all day 🥓 🍳 🍞 along with baked potatoes 🥔 and fresh seasonal soup 🥣
