The Milk Cake
One of the biggest trends of Instagram in 2020 has had to be the Milk Cake. It was absolutely everywhere but what is it and why is it so popular?

The Milk cake is also known as Tres Leches (three milk) cake and originates from Mexico. This cake uses a traditional vanilla sponge, soaked with three types of milk (most typically condensed milk, whole milk and cream).

This cake is one of the most versatile cakes around and there are literally hundreds of variations of the milk cake. The mot popular milk cake that has been in very high demand is the saffron infused milk cake.

Did you know Saffron is the most expensive spice on earth pound for pound and when soaked in water or milk, it gives out a delicate and decadent flavour. Saffron derives from the Crocus Sativus flower which is commonly known as the “saffron crocus. The biggest producers of saffron are Iran, Morocco, Greece and India.

My personal favourite milk cake combination has to be the Saffron, Pistachio and Rose petal milk cake. This is a real feast for all the senses. it not only tastes incredible, it looks like a piece of art! Milk cake can be served either on its own or with the milk infusion poured on top.
