Any surplus monies left over after costs,are donated back to good causes and local projects Open during the week Tues - Fri 9.00am-2pm but all welcome if the doors are open and you're happy to wait while we set up.Our volunteers are as important as our customers. You can find us at the end of the Water of Leith Walkway, in the St Joseph's Centre, just beyond the Balerno roundabout. No 44 bus will

take you back into Edinburgh city.We are proud to support fair trade in Balerno. We use Fairtrade ingredients when we can in our baking and soups and serve excellent Fairtrade tea and freshly ground coffee we serve baked potatoes, sandwiches,toasted sandwiches and paninis. we have recently added bacon rolls and pancakes,which are lovely with bacon and maple syrup �. all served by our smiling volunteers, whom are happy to stop and chat. we all need an ear to listen sometimes.

Dear all,
I'm so very sad to tell you all that our beloved volunteer Betty passed away peacefully at home last week. Betty volunteered in the cafe for 12 years , 3 days a week. She took quite ill on shift 4 months ago and devastatingly was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Betty loved volunteering in the cafe and thrived getting to know her community. She cared about everyone that came through the doors and loved watching your children grow up and chatting to all. Betty enjoyed meeting new volunteers and would happily take them under her wing. We all miss her laughter ringing through the hall and her company. Betty could of won gold if tottering about in heels where an Olympic sport, she could take off across the church garden with a tray full off coffee and not spill a drop or get her heels stuck in the grass. Betty was always dressed beautifully, she was a bright , elegant and determined soul. I will miss making her very frothy Cappuccino at 11.30 ish everyday with as much froth as I could build to a peak, a couple of marshmallows and a light dusting of cocoa which she would happily scoop up with a teaspoon while always still on her feet!. Betty's daughter Lynne and her husband Alan have extended an invite (in photo)) to all who new Betty. Please come and share your memories of Betty with us all. It will be a very fitting tribute for Betty's 'Mill family' to celebrate her life with her at 'home family'.
We are all heartbroken and are missing Betty immensely.

The cafe will be closed on the 6th September. Betty's celebration of life will be at morton Hall crematorium at 11am, 6th sept and will continue in the st.josephs building ( the Mill cafe ) from 12.15pm.
