Blank Canvas is officially underway! 🥳

Our first free workshop took place on Tuesday with local Ayrshire artist Aimee Kent. Participants explored drawing from natural flora, creating designs that will be carved into printmaking blocks.

Next week, we’ll be naturally dyeing fabrics using food waste before printing onto the textiles in our final workshop. The finished pieces will then be transformed into cushions by a live seamstress during our exhibition opening on Friday 26th June, 4–8pm at MAKE, 30 Newmarket Street, Ayr.

Our first Blank Canvas artist residency begins today as part of our six-month programme, with local textile and interiors designer Aimee Kent taking over the MAKE studio.

Over the next month, Aimee will be transforming and upholstering old furniture, exploring creative ways to give discarded pieces a new life. As part of the residency, she’ll also be working with the public through three free workshops, using food waste to create natural dyes and fabric prints.

The residency will culminate in a final exhibition and open studio event on Friday 26th June, 4–8pm, at MAKE - 30 Newmarket Street.
