Good morning & happy June!

This year’s going so fast!

I hope those of you with little ones enjoyed the half term holiday with them! It’s always good to get back into a routine though, isn’t it?

May was a bit crazy (especially with the heatwave) in the Flamazing Bakes kitchen! I’ve been absolutely rubbish at showing you what I’ve been up to and keeping up on here. Must do better!

Let’s start with something beautiful…

The flamingo. 💗

Elegant. Graceful. Iconic.

But underneath all that pink?

A skull engineered by evolution to do one VERY specific job with incredible precision.

That’s what makes birds so fascinating.

They aren’t just pretty animals. They are the surviving descendants of dinosaurs.

Not “related to.” Not “kind of similar to.”

Actual living dinosaurs.

And this week, we’re proving it one skull at a time. 💀🔥

From bizarre feeding adaptations… to ancient survival tools still being used millions of years later…

every bird skull tells a story written by evolution.

Today’s star? The flamingo.

That upside-down feeding style? That strange curved beak? Those intricate filtering structures?

That’s not random design.

That’s millions of years of evolutionary fine-tuning.

And honestly… once you see the skull…

you’ll never look at a flamingo the same way again. 👀

Hi! I’ve had a lot of new followers recently, so I thought it was time to reintroduce myself! I’m Symona, Cake Artist & Baker of Flamazing Bakes, based in Grendon Underwood, Buckinghamshire.

I’ve been baking since I was a toddler, standing on a chair baking fairy cakes with my mum and by the age of 9, I had set up my first business selling mud cakes (yes, MUD!) and paper hats from the front garden to bemused passers by!

You’ll be relieved to hear, my menu’s progressed over the years and I now love helping you to elevate your celebrations with luxury buttercream cakes & cupcakes and bespoke fondant biscuits. I offer postal treat boxes and cater for larger corporate orders, including edible printed logos & designs.
