Romney Marsh Wools

Romney Marsh Wools British made wool products created using the fleeces from our own flock of Romney ewes.

Established in 2018, Romney Marsh Wools is owned and run by Kristina & Paul Boulden and based on the family farm on the Romney Marsh, Kent, with Romney sheep having been in the family for at least 6 generations. Current numbers are around 1200 Romney ewes in the flock along with 150 Merino ewes. Romney Marsh Wools was born through a firm belief in raising the awareness of all the benefits wool can

bring and a wide range of products are produced using their own Romney wool. Each of the products are made by the very best British makers, all of whom are experts in their field and many who still use traditional techniques. The range includes homewares such as throws, blankets & cushions as well as clothing ranging from flat caps and baker style caps to scarves, ponchos and moccasins to name just a few Lanolin is a naturally occurring fat in wool and this is used to produce a range of toiletries including shower gel, shampoo, soap and moisturiser. The wool is also sold as raw and topped fleece as well as yarn in a range of colours. The semi-lustrous fleece of the Romney lends itself perfectly for spinning due to its long, soft staples with a slight crinkle and is sold as raw & topped fleece as well as yarn in a range of natural colours. The most recent addition to the farm is Romney Marsh Shepherds Huts, two luxurious huts which sit in the heart of the farm, with stunning views over the Romney Marsh and a chance to unwind and get close to nature, with vast open skies and beautiful, peaceful surroundings. The full range is available to buy online at www.romneymarshwools.co.uk, from selected stockists throughout the South East as well as events throughout the year.

Some exciting news… yesterday I was invited to a reception at No. 11 Downing Street! And it really was one of those moments that make you sit and reflect...

As a sixth-generation farm on the Romney Marsh, it was an incredible honour to be here and celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Small Awards.

Being able to showcase Romney Marsh Wools alongside some truly inspiring businesses (Little Beau Sheep, Candlewise and many other finalists and winners from across the UK) was an unforgettable opportunity.

We have to say - there is something quite special about standing in one of the most iconic buildings in the country with a basket of raw Romney wool, talking about sheep farming, sustainability and British manufacturing! We even had the opportunity to meet Chancellor Rachel Reeves and discuss the story behind our wool, from the sheep grazing our marshes to the products we make right here in Britain.

One of the biggest takeaways, was how relevant wool is to so many of the challenges we face today. It is natural, renewable, biodegradable, it supports rural communities, is keeping British farming viable and is a sustainable alternative to synthetic materials derived from fossil fuels.

And yet every year, many farmers struggle to find value for a fibre that should be one of Britain's greatest natural resources!

We believe that if we are serious about sustainability, net zero ambitions and supporting domestic production, then British wool deserves a MUCH bigger place in the conversation.

This invitation wasn’t just about us, it was recognition of the thousands of farmers, makers and small businesses working tirelessly to create products with purpose, preserve traditional skills and build a more sustainable future.

Thank you to Small Business Britain, the Small Awards team, HM Treasury and everyone who made the event possible!

And thank you to EVERY customer who chooses to support British farming and British wool. You are part of the change we need 👏
