Thousand Hours We are Thousand Hours, a community project dedicated to bringing a kindness revolution to Ashford.

Thousand Hours began in Ashford in October 2016 when we decided to pledge a thousand hours of our time to bringing life to Ashford. Whether through personal volunteering in our own neighbourhoods- picking up litter, baking cakes for neighbours, etc. or collectively by putting on community events throughout the month, we wanted to make an impact on the town that we love by spreading acts of kindnes

s, and bringing life in any way that we could. This year, Thousand Hours will be bigger and better as we continue to love and look after our community by bringing a kindness revolution to our town. We are working with schools and businesses around Ashford as well as impacting the small communities in our own areas and there are plenty of ways for you to get involved! We are aiming to hit five thousand hours within the month of October and we want your help!

It's October, and you haven't seen the Day Glo out and about. This is why.

After 6 years, of bringing to Ashford and beyond, we have seen incredible things happen as kindness has spread across the town. But it is time for us as a team, to hit pause.

We have said from the beginning that kindness is not just for October, and we fully mean it. We'd love to encourage you to keep passing it on, keep investing in little acts of kindness in your everyday life, keep loving your neighbours; your family; your friends and our town.

Since we began in 2016, we as a whole community have logged over 102,000 hours of kindness and we don't intend to stop there. (It's just time for us to do it without the high vis chic.)

Thank you to everyone who has taken part, and championed kindness so well over the past 6 years. Thank you to our team, for making it such a success. This is a pause on Thousand Hours, but it is NOT a pause on kindness.

Having a grant this year from KCF meant we were able to gift schools with incredible boxes full of gifts. These mean Thousand Hours lives on in the schools way past October.

However, we know that the kids in our Thousand Hours schools are learning so much about kindness for they friends, community and even themselves, that it is having a real long term impact on them.

We've loved being in schools again this year, equipping them with resources and tools to weave kindness into their curriculum.

This year, thanks to a grant from Kent Community Foundation , Karen and Charlotte were able to put together some Kindness Boxes for some of our schools to help them continue kindness throughout the year, and create a space for self-kindness on the bad days.

Saturday is the very last of our big events for Thousand Hours this year and we've got lots planned.

AV Kids and Family Circle will be hosting the last of our town centre hubs, this one in Victoria Park. They will have lots of goodies to give out and be getting more people in on the Kindness Revolution.

The AV Youth will also be out in Repton Park and showing their kindness to that community in hot and chocolatey form!

So come out and find some day-glo tees in a location near you and get involved!

The end of is approaching way too quickly.

We've had so many wonderful stories come in about how little acts of kindness have made a difference in someone's day and the ripple effect of passing forward kindness, getting others involved with the Kindness Revolution.

This Saturday AVKids and Family Circle are hosting the hub in Victoria Park.

They will be giving out goodie bags filled with note cards, haribo and other goodies, and encouraging people to join in with the kindness revolution across our city!

Everyone is welcome don your day glo, and come and find us near the fountain 11-2 on Saturday morning!
