This is the response from one disgruntled individual to the fact that we are merging Ashbourne and Crich Instagram pages together. There are so many reasons why this is totally ridiculous (like seriously… who ‘deserves’ and Instagram page)?!!?! However let me be clear why we are merging the pages…

1. Keeping two Instagram accounts up to date is a struggle and therefore by merging the two there will be more frequent posts.

2. Both shops sell the same stuff!!! So whatever I post is relevant to both shops!

3. Ashbourne bakehouse isn’t called Ashbourne bakehouse anymore it’s called loaf so keeping it as Ashbourne bakehouse was bloody confusing.

The only redeeming factor here is that this individual has taken the time to change his profile photo to the Ukrainian flag so I know that really this is a decent person… it just begs the question why… what can possibly be ‘un loyal’ about wanting to keep you more up to date with what’s going on?!???

A new week and a new month and it starts with Shrovetide. Now for none Ashbourne residents this simply consists of a pancake (or 3) but for Ashbourne folks (and now us) it seems it may be quite a big deal!

So for our first Shrovetide in Ashbourne we’ll be open between 8am and midday just to see how it all plays out 🙈

We’ll be serving coffees, cold drinks and loads of our massive sausage rolls and pastries…

See you there I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️

I know that sharing any political posts does nothing and helps no one. But even if all this does is show that the Ukraine is in our thoughts and shows that we have nothing but contempt for Russia then at least it highlights what side we’re on. Social media can be useful at times so we can use it to show Russia that the whole world is against them.

Sometimes the sourdoughs get all of the attention but y’know what a malted grain tin loaf can be a rather special thing.

Back open at 8am in the morning, pop in, grab a coffee and a loaf and say hi to Georgia!

Don’t forget if we don’t have anything in the shop you can always order and we’ll make it and save it for you to pick up (we just need two days notice for shop collection orders).

It’s seems we escaped the worst of the storm Eunice… I hope everyone stayed safe and didn’t suffer too much damage. Crich & Ashbourne open at 8am. It’s a fresh bread, hot coffee and cinnamon bun kinda saturday I think.

Ok folks… there’s a storm coming (or so they say)! Anyway… Ripley market is cancelled as is Ashby market on Saturday. But both shops will be open tomorrow from 8am but be careful if you’re venturing out 💨

Not at all bread related but how cute 🥰 One of our bakers is ‘on holiday’ this week… but that holiday is mostly taken up with lambing on her farm… Should Emily’s first lamb be the yearly prompt for hot cross bun baking to commence 😉
