Car boot season has been a little slow so far this year. Take last month and indeed this one, and tell me how often you have sat watching the weather forecast and prayed for sunshine? It only seems to be dry during the week but a mixed bag of four seasons in one day at the weekend.
So while there’s no boot sale this weekend, I’ve baked anyway. Apple pie to warm the soul.
So over last winter I started my writing career, I say career, it’s more of a hobby at the moment. I wanted to see if anyone wanted to read my work and I’m proud to say that two anthologies in and two stories down, several books sold, I’m really quite chuffed. Chuffed enough to start writing my own stories in my own books, which I’ll be working on during the wet periods which appears to be, this month, mostly at the moment, once I’ve got the allotment up to date and everything planted, in between the showers.
The Avon Brook Hotel anthology recalls stories from the decade of the 1970s to the demise of the hotel by 1980.
My story begins on page 91 called Sellerman and tells the story of a young guitarist called Danny with dreams of making his fortune in the big smoke and a travelling salesman called Stanley who longs to return to the family home and sleep in his own bed. Only one of those will achieve their goal but which one?
I enjoyed writing this story. A lot of research went into it. I lived through the 1970s and I remember a lot of it, but there were just a few things I had forgotten, and it was quite nostalgic travelling through the research.
I have five anthology books for sale. £10 each, plus p&p, and I will even sign it for free if anyone wishes to purchase a copy.
