Today the fox's wanted to do bucket time! Codie took one toy out of the bucket at a time and the children all gasped when each item came out of the bucket. Codie said "what do we need to do to make it move?" The children then said "twist!" The fox's loved to see the lights on the train as well!

This week in the Owls room, we've been having a wonderful time creating potions in various areas. Inside, the children experimented with different ingredients to make exciting concoctions. Outside, they got creative in the mud kitchen, blending grass and mud, while at the water tray, they enjoyed mixing water with bubbles. It has been delightful to watch the Owls express their creativity through these fun potion-making activities!

This week in the Mouse Room, we had a blast rolling balls down the ramp! We had some fun conversations about the different colours of the balls we used. The rain added to the excitement as the balls made splashes when they hit the water at the bottom! The children's laughter could be heard across the garden as they crashed together.

Today in fox's they made patterns in the flour! The children enjoyed feeling the flour in their hands and drawing different shapes and patterns. One child said it looked like snow so they all watched it slowly fall from their hands.

In celebration of Space Week, our Owls class has been exploring the various planets, focusing on the one we live on. We've also used loose parts to create our own rockets and planets. Using playdough, we crafted our own aliens, which prompted discussions about different emotions and how aliens might appear when they are happy or sad. One child even suggested 'angry eyebrows.' This sparked a variety of conversations about space and inspired the children to share what they love about the different planets.

In Mouse Room this week the children have been learning about floating and sinking. In a bowl of warm water the children put objects in to see if they floated or sank, the adults talked about why they might float or why they might sink. A member of staff said 'can you find objects around the garden to add to the water?' A child then found a small tyre and put that in the water. This was a great activity for all of our babies, the younger babies enjoyed splashing in the water with their hands.

This week in Owls, we have been delving into the world of volcanoes. We combined red and yellow to create orange paint, then added baking soda to make it fizz like lava. The children said that we shouldn't touch it because lava is hot. Additionally, we read a book about volcanoes and learned that ash also erupts alongside lava. Well done, Owls!
