This week we have been embracing the rainy weather. We have been learning how to dress ourselves for the weather. Some of the children could independently put on their trousers and wellies, others were good at finding their coats and boots. Once outside we had lots of fun splashing in the muddy puddles and tyres. We also rode our bikes through the puddles. We liked the rain on our heads when we took our hoods down.

In Owls, we've been working on our ball control skills. The children have had great fun manoeuvring balls around cones, scoring goals, practising batting, throwing a ball through the basketball hop and enjoying throwing and catching with their friends.

This week we have been practising our listening and waiting skills. We really enjoying playing with the "Jack-in-the-box". We learned a new nursery rhyme, 'Half a pound of tuppenny rice'. Then we had to wait patiently until the 'jack' jumped out of the box. We were very excited when he did.
Then we all pretended to be jack in the boxes. We had to wait until the 'pop' part of the rhyme, before we jumped up. We crouched down very low making ourselves as small as we could, then 'pop' we all jumped up!

This week in owls we have been learning all about snails! We found some snails and we then had a 'snail race' we looked at the snails and gave them some grass in case they where hungry! We then read a book all about snails for a group time activity. What a fun week we have had!

In the mouse room, the children have been having a blast exploring paint with all sorts of fun mark-making tools! One little artist loved getting their hands messy with the paint, while another found joy in making patterns with scrunched-up tinfoil. The sounds of their playful discoveries filled the room, and one excited child even shouted 'pop' as they jumped on the bubble wrap!

This week in Foxes we have been trying to keep cool as much as possible. We have used different items to make marks in the flour, including fingers, hands, cars and paintbrushes. We drew straight lines, circles and wiggly lines. One child built a wall with the flour and said it was a 'castle'. The children were telling us what marks they had made. Some said 'mummy' whilst others said 'circle', pointing at the shape they had made.

In Owls this week we have been super excited to use our new construction and foam. We have built houses, towers and vehicles. The foam we found we could mould into a ball and when we rubbed our hands together the foam magically disappeared!

The children in mouse room have really enjoyed exploring the sensory bags, feeling all of the different textures. One child noticed there were toy fish in the water, they pointed and said "fish". Another child mentioned to use gentle hands while popping the bubbles.

This week in the mouse room has been such an exciting adventure! We've started planting our very own herbs and flowers, which was a lovely hands-on activity for the children. They enjoyed looking through a sunflower book while carefully putting the seeds in the soil.

One curious little one spotted a bee in one of the books, which sparked our imagination and led us on a mini exploration in the garden! We were thrilled to find an actual bee on World Bee Day. The children's faces lit up with joy as they pointed at the bee. What a wonderful way to connect with nature and learn together!
