Today, I’m starting a new series called The Daily Counter — a celebration of the classics, the baked goods that show up for us every single day.
We spend so much time talking about the weekend specials, the limited editions, the flavours that steal the spotlight for a moment and disappear just as quickly. But this series is for the reliable ones — the comforting favourites waiting for us on the counter every morning. The ones we’re genuinely devastated to miss when they sell out early, yet somehow comforted by the thought that they’ll be back again tomorrow… if we can just get out of bed in time.
For me, the product worth leaving the house for is our Monkey Bread. A flaky, buttery pull-apart treat made from the offcuts of our croissant dough — honestly, there might not be a more delicious way to prevent waste. We coat it in brown sugar and cinnamon, then add banana and chocolate chips because some combinations simply make too much sense not to.
