I almost nearly didn’t get to make this completely edible hot tub cake! Mandy first asked for Hermione’s hot tub cake while I was away on holiday, and she even tried to get the cottage company to store it until the family arrived rather than not have one at all. In the end she waited for me to get back, which honestly means a lot.
The cake request was for four figures in the tub, which included Granny, Dad, Mum, and birthday girl Hermione…. plus Milly the German Shepherd keeping watch outside. Velvet Vanilla sponge, vanilla buttercream and white chocolate ganache. Every last detail was designed and made by hand with Milly taking almost as long as all four humans put together. German Shepherd fur in sugar paste is properly fiddly, tiny bit by tiny bit, and worth every minute of it because she’s the bit everyone clocks first when they see the cake.
