💔 We need your help — and we want to be honest with you

Yesterday, our family business was the victim of a serious cyberattack.
Alice, who many of you know, had her email hacked overnight by criminals based in Vietnam. Within minutes, her personal Facebook, her personal Instagram, her home baking business Willaston Whisk Facebook and Instagram pages, and our very own Karen Davies Sugarcraft Instagram were all taken down.
Years of memories. Years of work. Gone in three minutes.
Alice has spent years building our Instagram page. And on Saturday she was literally at her local village market selling cakes, talking to new customers, full of excitement about what’s coming next — new moulds, new classes, new things for all of you. And then Sunday morning she woke up to this.

We are fighting hard to get everything back, and we will not give up. But in the meantime, if you have ever loved our moulds, bought from us, taken a class, or simply followed along and enjoyed what we do — now is the time we really need you.

No matter what I write, it’s going to sound dramatic, so I’ll just say that when I felt a ni**le in my hip at mile 3 of Sunday’s Half Marathon, I should have listened to my body and pulled out of the run. Instead, we slowed our pace and continued to finish the full 13.1 miles. After getting our medals and sitting down to recover, I realised I couldn’t stand. I was wheeled into hospital with a suspected stress fracture early yesterday morning and will be here for the foreseeable. X-rays yesterday and MRI today are showing that it’s, thankfully, looking more likely to be Trochanteric Bursitis, so until physio come to try and get me upright again, I’ll be flat on my back in this hospital bed, enjoying being drip fed the most delightful cocktail of medication (certainly beats hospital food).

Part 2 of my Wired Sugar Rose, showing colouring and assembly. This style of rose is ideal for commercial use as it includes enough realism and beauty whilst not taking an entire day to create. With practice, you’ll be able to create a rose in around one hour (excluding drying time between assembly).💜

For students who attended my Wired Sugar Flowers classes over the past few days (& anyone else who’s interested) here’s a reminder of how we made the full-blown sugar rose. I’ll share Part 2, showing how to tape the outer petals, apply the calyx and seed pod etc., in a separate post.
